Kentucky sneaks past Samford, 82-50

lamb

Kentucky did exactly what they needed to do to get the win over Samford tonight — they showed up. The Cats won this one with ease, 82-50, while shooting a cool 50% from the field. Doron Lamb led the way with 26 points, followed by Darius Miller — who got the start for the injured Terrence Jones –with 17 of his own.

Chat about it for now and we’ll back later with more.

Nice job by our Cat’s, but they might need to work on defending that backdoor cut before March.

I think TJones should sit until we have to have him back. Meaning, until New Year’s Eve.

I had no idea that was Matt Jones calling that game. Awesome job. Is that his first game? Get 30 or 40 games under his belt and he’ll be best thing to hit UK games in a loooong time. Dykes isn’t an UK homer, Macy needs anti-depressants, Vitale doesn’t care, Dan Shulman sucks. Finally nice to hear a game called by someone who has pro-UK. GFD about time.

Doron is takin his game to another level. All it takes is that mentality. Leadership evolving

Great win! Love to see the Cats rolling. Even against the cupcakes.

Cal needs to keep TJ out of the games until he can get him to “be a man.”

Jayson Williams hit it it straight on. If you wanna be a star, you don’t let a pinky injury punk you out of the game. Right now, TJ doesn’t deserve to wear a Kentucky Jersey. He’s an embarrassment to the program.

Spelling Queen Bees, did I use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation?

Great win by the Cats!! Miller played very well which makes me wonder if they’d ever consider starting him over Jones? He adds to the offense even when he isn’t shooting well.

The reason Terrence Jones looks like he lost his puppy is because his best friend moved back to Washington. His friend was upset when Jones left the scene of that accidnt. It was Jones best friend from HS. They had a falling out and Jones is upset and hurt.

The defense on that backdoor cut was horrible tonight, work on it. Much, much improved free throw shooting. Was glad to see us sinking them from the stripe. We’ve been pretty horrible and it’s cost us. Glad to see Wiltjer get some minutes, sheesh he has to work on his defense. A huge liability, needs these minutes to learn and work on it. His hook is as sweet as mom’s chocolate cake, but his defense smells like the bathroom after grandpa finishes up.

Calipari needs to learn to keep players more than 1 year. we may have the most talented in the country each year but good luck winning 6 games against older solid teams come tournament time. I’m a huge fan but lets face reality. Jones is a young, talented player but is also inexperienced. He is a severe example of a young player but it is bound to happen come tournament time to either him or one of the other guys. sad that he is considered a leader.

Cal needs to use these games to develop his very thin bench. It was the same last year when guys like Poole and Hood could have seen much more playing time in some of those lopsided wins.
I’m not sure why Cal won’t do that. Is it because he’s too concerned about padding the stats for his stars in preparation for Draft night? Is it for recruiting purposes – signaling to the next batch of McDonald’s All-Americans that they’ll get plenty of playing time even against the patsies?

You watch teams like Syracuse and Louisville and otehrs – they have so much depth. The key to beating Kentucky this year will be to get Davis in foul trouble, pull Davis’ pinky and then run-run-run til the five UK players can’t run no more.

    34. Chill out bro. I imagine you were the same loser complaining last year about lack of bench and then they went to the Final Four. Stop looking for shit to complain about. Syracuse and Louivlle have so much depth because they aren’t as talented as we are. Louisvlle has no NBA player on its roster. So they can go 9 deep because they are all equal in talent. And plus Louisville and Syracuse are known for choking in the tournament not the ideal model.

#6 – “TJ doesn’t deserve to wear a Kentucky Jersey. He’s an embarrassment to the program.”

Dave, with all due respect, you need to get off the internet. You are the embarrassment to the Big Blue Nation. Come on, these are just kids [if you are on Active Duty, you may well be one as well, and that would explain a lot.]

So, let me get this straight: If, or when, you have kids, and they do not measure up to your expectations, you will kick them out of the house, excommunicate them from the family, and remove them from the Will.

Ya know what Dave? There is a reason you are in the Military, and not coaching a basketball team!

    Wow!

#30 – How can you say that? They really exposed a weakness on the defensive end. Against a better team, that exposed the same weakness might have been a loss!

Every coach has his own way of doingthings. Cal is not going to give a player quaility minutes if said player does not earn those minutes in practice. Let’s face it folks, it is called practice because, well, that is where you practice and get better. there are several things that I disagree with about how Cal does things, but it doesn’t matter. He’s the coach, I am not. plus, I will take the success we are having with Cal as coach over what we had before.
