For a few short days, we had a good young reporter named JJ Pennington writing for us here on KSR. He did good work, but made the decision that we were a little too outside the mainstream for his taste and now he is writing for the Cats Pause, covering football recruiting. We wish him well and know that he will do a good job. His reporting acumen is shown today as he reported on Twitter that Kentucky is practicing this morning with piped in crowd noise to get ready for the game on Saturday. They are playing in a closed facility and utilizing the noise to help Hartline and his offensive line get their signals down when the noise goes up.
UK has used this strategy a lot in recent years and with the expectation it will be very loud on Saturday, it makes a great deal of sense. When you evaluate Hartline vs Newton, the ability to handle such situations may have been part of the equation used to make Kentucky Team Hartline. Either way, expect the UK players to walk out of practice as if they had been to see Guns N Roses circa 1989, with their ears ringing loudly.
