Kentucky opens as 7.5 point favorite, and other interesting Friday night numbers
-According to Vegas odds, Kentucky will open as a 7.5 point favorite over the visiting Baylor Bears tomorrow in Rupp Arena. Both teams are coming off of a loss in their previous game. Kentucky looks to extend their undefeated streak in Rupp Arena during the John Calipari era. Predictions on the spread?
– Future Kentucky Wildcat James Young went for 43 points tonight. That’s not a bad day at the office. Somewhere Jack Taylor is not impressed.
– James Young scored more points than either Tennessee OR Georgetown tonight. The two teams met up in the Big East/SEC Challenge. Apparently the biggest challenge for both teams was scoring, as they made Kentucky scoring 50 last night seem impressive. The final score of the game was 37-36. I wish I was kidding. I repeat, 37-36. Georgetown won. Tennessee and those in attendance lost.
– Andrew Wiggins also had a huge night at the Marshall County Hoop Fest. He was named MVP following a 29 point, 17 rebound, 5 assist, 5 block performance. According to those at the game, the chants for Wiggins from the Kentucky faithful were loud and clear throughout the night. According to Ben Roberts, Wiggins also exited the court with a blue Kentucky shirt on. That can’t be a terrible sign, right?

It wasn’t a Kentucky shirt. It was a Kennedy Fan Shop shirt but it was wildcat blue and had a big “K” on the back— for Kennedy.

Wiggins was as good as advertised, can literally do it all.

All MVPs got a blue shirt with the Kennedy’s bookstore “K” on the back. It did look good on him though. I’ve never seen an athlete that can jump to the ceiling 3 times before the other guy can even jump once.
Been watching UK recruits and high school showcase events for 40 years. Saw Wiggins tonight at hoopfest. He is the best I’ve seen in person play in a high school game outside of Lebran James. (Wiggins #2, Shawn Kemp #3, Jimmy Jackson #4, Marcus Liberty #5, Monte Ellis #6) This kids would start in the NBA right now.

No doubt Wiggins is the best high school player I’ve seen at hoopfest. He barely beats out guys before him like Monte Ellis, Brandon Jennings, Carmelo, Derrick Rose, and Rondo. This guy is the real deal and will be an NBA stud no doubt. Very impressive for a high schooler
