I just returned a bit ago from Snoozefest 09, aka the Kentucky-Indiana High School All Star game. After 40 minutes of action that was difficult to watch, the Indiana boys beat the Kentucky boys 64-49. Truth be told, I couldnt even make it through the whole game. I left at halftime with the Kentucky guys down 17 and no hope of coming back. Jon Hood spent most of the game double-teamed, and the rest of the Kentucky boys struggled to say the least. It was a painful display of the general weakness of this year’s Kentucky class and the relative strengths of the 6 BCS players in the Indiana class.
Hood now will head towards Lexington and join the rest of the dynamic class of 2009. I spoke with a couple of people who saw the pickup games this weekend and we will have a rundown of what they thought later tonight. But for now, just know that things are about to be really special in Lexington.
Two other quick things…first, 2009 Miss Kentucky basketball and future UK Hoopster Adia Mathies can play. She was the best player on the court in a losing effort for the Kentucky girls and she will be a great player for Coach Matthew Mitchell (the women’s game was FAR SUPERIOR to the men’s today). Second, you havent lived till you have seen a 68 year old man make 86 out of 100 three pointers at the halftimes of the two games. The guy was pretty amazing and I doubt there are very many current players who could beat the guy in a contest.
More on Jodie and the pickup games in the night post….
