Kentucky rises to #2 in ESPN’s Power Rankings

The ESPN college basketball staff released its latest Power Rankings earlier today, and your University of Kentucky Wildcats checked in solidly at #2 behind the unbeaten Syracuse Orange. Both of them were nearly unanimous in owning their spots, but a couple of rebels ranked them slightly differently than the rest of the ESPN crew.

Syracuse garnered every first-place vote save for one, and that one went to Kentucky. ESPN researcher Jason McCallum voted the Cats #1 over the Cuse, making him the Rick Bozich of ESPN voters, but in the only good way possible – by giving Kentucky a first-place vote when most others weren’t. On the other end of the spectrum only one person ranked Kentucky lower than second, as perpetual fly in the ointment of society Doug Gottlieb put the Cats 4th, one spot behind a North Carolina team that they beat and two spots behind an Ohio State team that lost by four to Indiana over the weekend. Not that I would expect Gottlieb to be anything besides a weiner, but it wouldn’t hurt in this case if his BS was at least defensible. Oh well. We can always hope. Here are the full rankings:

1. Syracuse
2. Kentucky
3. North Carolina
4. Ohio State

Actually good to “fly under the radar” … as well as you can, being ranked #2. It only matters that Puke and NC are below us! haha
