Kentucky favored by 4 1/2 over Western

Like this, but with footballs.

So, we just got our first win of the season less than 24 hours ago.  Felt good, didn’t it?  Yeah, it was against a team that forgets to run the right way sometimes, but the offense showed real poise and ability in the second half, and that certainly bodes well for the future.

Speaking of the future, it’s already time to start placing bets on UK against Western.  Remember, the spread for Kent State was a touchdown, and that was overcome pretty handily.  So what’s the expectation against WKU?

Well, according to VegasInsider.com, not a lot:

Yesterday saw the Cats win and the ‘Toppers lose, but it’s hard to overlook the quality of opponents.  Western went up against a dominating Alabama team that essentially used the game as a glorified practice to give their passing game some time to work against an unfamiliar defense, allowing the running backs to take a little bit of a break.  Kentucky, meanwhile, took advantage of one of the few soft spots on the schedule.

But still, even after accounting for the teams they just played, does 4 1/2 points seem low to you?  Before yesterday, I would have said it seemed about right.  Now it seems a little less probable.  It’s still smart to be wary of an offense that put up 14 points against the Tide, considering that’s the same number that Denard Robinson and the 8th ranked Wolverines put up in week one. But what do you think?  Discuss it Goldilocks-style: Too high, too low, or just right?

4.5 is the halftime line. We opened as a touchdown favorite.

It doesn’t matter what the line is. Our defense is awful and was gashed by a doormat MAC team. They will be gashed by an OVC team and they will be throttled by SEC teams.

When he get the “W” over Western – we (UK) will be rewarding joker with a raise and contract extention!

I have used WordPress before, why doesn’t KSR update their posts when they make such a glaring error like saying WKU scored 14 points against Alabama, when in fact they were shutout? I don’t get that…

So what is the actual line? That screenshot has 4 1/2, 6 1/2, 7, and 10 on it….which is it?

This is Vegas telling us 2 weeks in a row: hey UK, you suck. Vegas isn’t emotional, they don’t care, it’s just about money, and Vegas says we don’t respect you. The Wynn is the only actual LV casino so far listed & they have it at 6 1/2.

Side note: The ladies at the Bellagio Sports Book have to be some of the most beautiful women in the world.

@7-I am with you bro. Only time I don’t root for Big Blue. GO TOPS!!! I will, however, be wearing neutral colors at the game.

12 – Does it really matter? The point is it’s a horrible defense.

vegas opens with the same line as the kent state game to induce bettors to get all over uk. they knows what’s up. hope uk wins obv, but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a tight one.

WKU turned it over 4 times and 3 in Bamas redzone and one in theirs if not for that it would have been a much closer game WKU 224 yds – UA328 yds. WKu held them to 31 yards rushing. And no Bama didn’t let off the gas – their backup QB only took one snap. Their rb’s had 31 carries and Yeldon was in the whole game. WKU got pretty lit up in the air – so the new UK air attack is going to have to work. WKU is a good team for the Sunbelt and have some SEC calibre players (26 on the roster from Florida).

While I do expect WKU to give UK a much better effort than Kent State, I still think we are going to put points on the board. The offense has successfully moved the ball two weeks in a row. Against UL, we only scored twice with six opportunities inside the UL 25 yard line.

Even if WKU keeps us under 30 points, our defense will have to be lit up by WKU in order to lose. While some may think that will happen, I don’t think it will be enough to lose the game.

    UK – 27
    WKU – 17

8…What OVC teams do we have on our schedule? WKU plays in the Sun Belt, you know…an actual FBS Conference. As for our defense getting gashed, I thought we were much improved Saturday, even against a MAC team. While it took about 3 quarters, the defense finally began to get pressure late in the game and our offense has been fantastic in both games, minus two fumbles in the opener.

22…Being from the state of Florida doesn’t make you an SEC-caliber player. Not saying WKU doesn’t have some SEC-caliber talent, but saying they do because some of the players are from Florida is just silly.

The spot opened at 4.5 (game, not halftime), moved to 6 within 5 minutes, moved to 7 within 4 hours, and remains at 7.

    25) sorry i just meant that’s where they get their players not that all Florida players are SEC. Although it’s clear Florida is one of the best high school football states and I was just pointing out that’s their recruiting strategy.
