Now I think it goes without saying that we dont do a lot of Kentucky baseball coverage here on Kentucky Sports Radio. Its not that I dont care about Kentucky baseball, its that I dont care A LOT about Kentucky baseball. I only really have the time to post three to four things a day and I just cant get it in me to talk about UK baseball. MAybe its the aluminum bat or the fact that I cant name a college baseball player of worth since Will Clark, but I just dont really have it in me to be a huge college baseball guy.
Well maybe until now, as the UK baseball team announced its arrival to the world this weekend, sweeping ranked South Carolina to jump into a tie for first place in the SEC. YEs you read that correctly….tied for first in the SEC. Now even I know that the SEC is one of, if not the best, collegiate baseball conferences (mainly because most of the schools are in places that have good weather early in the Spring), so this accomplishment is very impressive. UK baseball continues the rapid rise of non-revenue sports at UK under Mitch Barnhart, as the women’s basketball, swimming and diving, etc teams continue to flourish.
I am not sure when the last time the Cats made the College World Series (which by the way, like the Little League World Series, never ends once it begins….and is an excuse for Harold Reynolds to have a job), but it may soon be that time again. Things are so exciting that I am considering making a trip to the UK baseball stadium to catch a game. ANd you should to….and if I am not there, tell me what happens….because it is likely I wont be there.
But go Bat Cats!!!! If its Kentucky, it cant be that bad (aka Miss USA, who is from Somerset and very hot).
