University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Keep An Eye Out Around Lexington

Kentucky’s Summer Session number 2 starts a week from tomorrow, and you know what that means.  I’m going back to school.  Oh, and it’s time to start sending in pictures of random basketball players around campus doing goofy things.  We got the Cousins Cheesin’ smile two years ago, and the Terrence Jones Number One picture last year, who’s it going to be this time around?  My money is on Wiltjer and a Slip n’ Slide.  Make it happen.

Not only new recruits, though, but with the NBA lock out still a possibility, and the Dominican Team coming around, there will likely be more bizarre basketball player sightings than you can shake a stick at.  Where did that expression even come from?  Either way, it’ll be an exciting summer to spend staking out the blue courts by Wildcat Lodge – and if anyone wants to see me dunk on Anthony Davis, you better be there.

Hey- is there anyway we could get an updated roster for the upcoming season and who will be available to play? With all the incoming fresmen and transfers, I can’t remember what our roster looks like. Thanks in advance!

Im not for sure, but I think that Beckham is allowed to play, but Harrow will have to sit out a year. Dont quote me on that though.

Beckham can play in the second half of the year due to when he transferred. Harrow won’t be able to play until the 12-13 season.

i saw Kenny Walker yesterday at the movies going to see X-Men and he was in the weirdest attire i have ever seen. it was a New York Jersey and jorts that had NBA team patches on it. he was “flossin” a big gold chain. does this count as a random basketball player doing goofy things?

    12. Normally yes. But that sounds about par for Kenny Walker, so I’m not gonna count it.

I love that picture of Jones. Sometimes we forget these are just kids like we all were at one time not emotionless robots put on earth to entertain us fans.

Darius Miller – Consistency is the key for the Senior from Maysville, as always. He was the SEC tourney MVP but laid an egg in the final four loss to UConn. Could Miller be the sixth man that brings 3 point shooting, versatility, size and leadership off the bench? He wont start over Mike Gilcrest, sorry.

Eloy Vargas – Cal talks about his JUCO transfers making more of an impact in year two. Well Eloy its year two, show us something, please!

Jon Hood – The entire fan base is hopeful that some how Hood can make a contribution and honestly if he is going to, this is the year. Beckam wont be eligible until December and Lamb and Teague are the only true guards on the team, minutes are available. Maybe Jon will visit the Wizard and get a heart or maybe he content simply getting front row seats to the Greatest Show on Earth?

Twany Beckham (Walk-On) Saw limited playing time at Miss St so we cant predict what he will bring to the table. Adds size and depth to the back court. Maybe he will take a page from Liggins book and accept a role and excel at it, maybe?

Doron Lamb – Can you imagine if Doron “Pretty Feet” Lamb gets 20 shots a night? That could spell All American honors and possibly SEC POY votes. He will be option 1 or 2 and that excites me.

Terrence Jones – Has there ever been a more under-appreciated player at UK since Rajon Rondo (freshman year)? All he did was average 16 ppg 9 rpg 2 blks in 2011 and play nearly 30 minutes a game out of position most of the year while earning SEC Frosh of the year. He back but does any one care? I know I do.

    Stacey Poole – Who?

Jarrod Polson (Walk-On)- Human celebration cigar. May see 10 minutes a game early during the cup cake part of the schedule.

    Ryan Harrow (Transfer)- 2012-13

Anthony Davis – Versatile big man in the mold of Walter McCarty / Marcus Camby. Guard skills at 6’10 excellent shoot blocker and rebounder. ESPN #1 player in 2011 class. My guess is he averages a double double and is one of the countries elite shot blockers from day 1.

Michael Gilchrist – Here is a guy that is under-appreciated nationally bc he has been good for so long. A long rangy elite athlete that plays hard on every play. Watch for Gilcrest to have the ball at the top of the circle initiating the offense playing point forward in certain sets, he is that good not to mention his ability to rebound, pass, and defend. If you have something bad to say about Gilly’s game, you are a hater.

Marquis Teague – Has there ever been a #1 rated PG in his class with less buzz than Marquis Teague? All he knows is attack and can get anywhere on the court he wants. Try thinking Russell Westbrook mixed with Jamal Crawford handles with John Walls J. Can you picture that? He will average 6+ assist a game mark it down.

Kyle Wiltjer – As soon he arrives someone should show this kids Jort’s highlight tape. We know he can shoot we know he is skilled (hooks shots up and up and unders) but will he get dirty? With Anthony Davis projected to start at and T Jones at 4 and Eloy the only true center Wiltjer is going to have to do more than shoot 3’s. Could you imagine his stroke with Jort’s heart and rebounding, I can? Unstoppable!

We all seen what Jorts practicing against Kanter did. Imagine what will happen when Teague, Davis and Gilchrist get to play pick up games against Wall, Cousins, and lets say…Al Horford (if he tries out for Dominican team) This could turn into the most feared, unstopable team ever.
