Karl Towns talks about his decision

This morning, the Big Blue Nation gained a new member: Karl Towns, the 3rd best player in the 2014 class. Karl’s decision to attend UK (and reclassify to 2014) was expected, but his comments about the Cats after his press conference show just how excited he is to join #lafamilia:

On UK fans: “I feel like if (UK fans) were to trip & fall & start bleeding, no blood would come out; just basketballs would come out of the cut.

On the environment in Lexington: “They bleed blue and white, and they are just one of the great basketball institutions of the world.”

Why he chose Kentucky: “I just felt the most comfortable there and they have a great kinesiology program, which is what I want to study. That had a lot to do with my decision.”

“The program I picked is going to allow me to be the best player and person I want to be in life,”

“Kentucky is such a great school. I felt like Kentucky was just the right school at the end of the day.”

First impressions of Coach Cal: “I thought he was going to be really loud and really crazy and I was right on both.”

Other factors in his decision: “Once that ball stops dribbling, what am I going to do with my life?”

On his mom’s reaction: “She’s Spanish, so she’s going to go crazy.”

    Great day for UK fans.

Major recruit in basketball, football coach out assembling his staff, basketball game to watch, and Louisville might lose another coach.

#5 I read that in a high state and completely bust out laughing. If not for the outright creepiness of the comment, then for the straight up truth of it.

Heck ya! Have a strong feeling towns is gonna end up being a good bit better than #7 in the 2014 class. He’ll be really special I think. A more polished big cuz with a tad less physical dominance; probably quicker as well.

    And…
@ 5 — Trying to be funny? I don’t see it. Trying to troll/aggravate people? I don’t understand it. I really can’t bring myself to ignore overtly negative fans. I so desperately want to believe such miserable folk don’t exist, or at least don’t share my interests

#17 – Mildcat54 – Sounds like you’ve got a problem. Yet, I still see some hope in you.

    You actually care.

Everybody needs to be kind… Ryan Harrow is depressed at the moment because he had this idea for the past year that coming into this season he’d be the next John Wall, Derrick Rose, Brandon Knight with 1/2 the talent and 1/4 the effort.

    Red Alert! Wake Up!

The talent part can be overcome with 10 X the effort. But then again, good luck giving more effort than John Wall gave Kentucky.

But we shouldn’t talk about these things. You know, reality should be hidden under a rock like they do down in Knoxville with their athletics program at the moment.

Karl, once the ball stops dribbling, you become a spokesperson, coach or run for Kentucky office.

“Once that ball stops dribbling, what am I going to do with my life?”
Sounds like a great kid, and obviously has the talent to belong here; reminds me of Patrick Patterson
