As we get ready for all things Turkey, it bears remembering that Friday night at midnight, we play the Kansas State Fighting Beasleys. Coached by Frank Martin (who was previously unemployed after The Sopranos got cancelled), Kansas State is supposed to be in a rebuilding season after losing Beasley and Bill “I urinate where I want to, even if it is a towel” Walker. They however have started strong, 5-0, including a great road win at Cleveland State, picked second in the Horizon League, and a better team than you think. Their home wins have all been by 20 or more and this will be a good mid-level test for the Cats to see where they stand.
For a school in the middle of nowhere, I have a lot of great stories about Kansas State….mostly because I played in a softball tournament there for no obvious reason. Manhattan, Kansas is the farthest place away on Earth and I still think that I am driving back from that tournament today. But the basketball team got re-energized by the one year Bobby Huggins was there and the game on Friday (at midnight no less) should be quite interesting….if of course you have ESPNU and can watch it. We will have more on here as we get going, but study up on the Wildcats of K-State….it wont be a walk in the park.
