Even with getting Randle, this has been the most depressing first day of the NCAA tournament that I can remember…even 2009 I filled out a ton of brackets and was pretty excited, but this year I’ve only filled out a few. My final four is Michigan State, Wisconsin, Florida, and Miami…yeah I’m probably going with what my heart says over my head… Also, have we still not heard from Jay? I think Jay’s friend who called was a friend of another Jay that calls…I wish atleast his friend would call back in to give us something…

Fritzy on the Dan Patrick show yesterday did a Mock Head Lines version of the UK loss to Robert Morris. It was slightly funny and at this point if I don’t laugh it off I’ll go crazy. Also Paul Pabst who produces the show told Fritzy to take it easy (which he did) with the Mock Head Lines because of the wrath of our UK fanbase.

Matt, I’m as excited and giddy as anyone, but after this year, I have to temper my expectations just a little bit. The Fab Five is still remembered as up to this point the greatest team of freshmen ever, but they stayed for TWO YEARS and still did not bring home the hardware. LSU had quite a team with Shaq, Chris Jackson and Stanley Roberts, but they never won the crown. It takes talent, but it also takes some luck, the right matchups, and probably some experience. I am REALLY looking forward to next year, but I am certainly not expecting 40-0. Don’t want to be set up for disappointment.

The reason some think Wiltjer should transfer is not because we don’t love Wiltjer, but because he’s in a serious logjam.
Next year I think Wiltjer is possibly the 5th or 6th big man.
Randle and WCS will start with Poythress coming in as a 3/4 sub and Lee coming in as a 4/5 sub. Dakari Johnson may even play over Wiltjer since he’s less of a liability so when is he going to see the floor?
The following year we will likely have Dakari Johnson and Marcus Lee with Karl Towns coming in and there’s zero chance Wiltjer plays over a sophmore Lee or a freshman Karl Towns. Karl Towns would obliterate Wiltjer TODAY.
That being said why would Wiltjer want to come back if he’s the 5th big man at best next year and the 3rd of 4th as a senior. He can go elsewhere and play in an offense that fits his style better and he can play 30 minutes a game.
I love Wiltjer but I’m talking about whats best for him.
Chester is fake. He’s actually a pastor from Lexington and has been calling into shows like this for years. EZ and Flener knew from the beginning but they all kept it from Matt because, well, it’s funny to keep things from Matt. Know Matt knows but he refuses to acknowledge it because it’s better for his show.

Enough already on the Wiltjer rumors. There is NO WAY a player at this point in the season would know he is transferring. In order to be allowed to say anything more than “Hi” to another team’s coach you have to get a release from your current school. You seriously think they have been discussing that during the season and for long enough for Wiltjer to have discussed\been recruited by Mark Few? Secondly, Wiltjer’s sister is coming to UK next year to play volleyball. Yeah it makes sense that she would do that whilst he moves back to the west coast.
Maybe college athletes should just turn off their Tweeter.

Honestly there’s really no reason an adult fan should be friends with or comment to a college player on social media. The bad apples in our fanbase are far more vocal than the good ones even though they’re small in number and stature.
You also have the few that will act like UK fans… Not many but, add that to our bad fans and things get magnified.
148, he just wasn’t shooting for whatever reason, this year. he can’t take his man off the dribble, has no vertical, and if his defender isn’t 5 feet away from him, he wont shoot it.

Also what he brings is shooting but with the offensive fire power we’ll have next year we won’t be desperate for another shooter, especially one that is a defensive liability. Lee and Randle are far superior on defense and Randle has a much better overall offensive game.
I just don’t see how Wiltjer sees the floor next year if Poythress and WCS come back.

Really? Why would anyone need to know anything about bball to logically say these guys are FRESHMAN, and are only 17yrs old. I want them to be world beaters as well, but 17yr old kids aren’t always going to flourish in this type of environment. AD & MKG were special special kids…who were mature way beyond their years.

When we had veteran teams, and a super star freshman makes a bonehead play in a game, everyone goes ahhhh just a freshman mistake. And there’s not much more of a thought put into it, but when you take those same freshman and make them the entire lineup, you’re going to get LOTS of bonehead plays and it looks worse because that’s all that is there.

Chester is such an idiot. NFL players are “practically wearing panties”? This coming from a guy who would have his body broken in half if he played one down in the NFL. I’ve had the good fortune to stand on the sideline during an NFL game last season and I was downright frightened by how fast the game is played, how hard the players hit, and how big most of them are. The NFL is a league of modern-day gladiators and they deserve to have some new rules in hopes that it will make the game safer.

Geographically, if you were to circle Lexington, Louisville, Bloomington and loop Cincinnati on the way back to Lexington, that is the winningest region in college basketball. 17 National Championships. Yet everyone talks about tobacco road as the pinnacle of college basketball. If you want teams to lose in the first round, root against teams from tobacco road. I happen to think the greatest rivalries in basketball come from our region and I want that to be apparent so go UofL and IU!
