Joker on his job status

Not surprisingly, most of the questions in the postgame press conference centered around Joker Phillips’ job status. Here are some of his answers:

— Joker said that if Mitch decides to fire him, it would be better for the program to come out and say it now, but that he doesn’t believe the decision has been made yet.

On Mitch Barnhart wanting to keep him: “We’re making it real tough on him… I understand this is a results business.”

Joker on if he’s coming back for another year: “I’d love to. No doubt. But that’s not for me to decide. I understand Mitch’s position and the things that go into it.”

On deserving another year: “We’ve got a lot of young kids in this program, but that’s not for me to decide.”

Rashawn will be by soon with a full recap.

40-0 to Vandy and a handful of people there to watch, sounds like to me Mitch
    doesn’t have much choice.

If Mitch didn’t have a vagina, Joker would already be gone.

This is Mitch’s fault. Joker was given a knife and taken to a gun fight. Mitch took all jokers gun money and spent it on woman’s four square or tether ball or something just as meaningless. Barnhardt needs to do what most UK fans want and quit. His comments today just drove the wedge deeper between he and the fan base. The guy gets it about as much as billy Clyde did.

If Joker really did care about this program, he would offer his resignation TODAY. Any moron can look at this mess and know that he is a failure, including him. There comes a point when you just have to step into reality and understand your place.

-On whether or not he pooped his pants just as the above photo was taken: “It sure felt like I sharted my pants, but that’s for Mitch to determine when he bends down give me my post-game congratulatory ass kissing.”

Why quit when you can be fired and earn the remaining millions on your contract? Naive?
No coache resigns when he can be fired and live the good life for a decade.

I wonder if Joker took the job to finish out his career and retire comfortably like Papaw did?

    #5 is right.
The process will be much easier after today’s game. Personal attacks serve no purpose. Joker gave his best and did not succeed. Now, the AD must perform. I hope that a new coach will be named soon. The fans and players deserve a better showing.

Sorry guys. Just really frustrated with this football season.

Mitch, Joker may be the best friend you’ve ever had…but he sucks! He’s got to go. And if you give him another year, get used to the attendance you saw today.

Chill out. It is pretty obvious at this point that Mitch will pull the trigger sometime between now and right after the UT loss which is likely will leave us at around 1-11. Whether he does it now or sometime buy the end of the month, I don’t think it will salvage this season or really put a dent in a lowly ranked recruiting class for next year.

Oh – Please don’t post this nonsense about Joker resigning. Would you resign and throw away $4 million bucks? He will obviously be forced out and UK will have to buy out his contract. I

    “Alfred…..get me the Bat Phone.

    We must…….eradicate the Joker.

He’s been nothing …..simply zero but that single ‘Albatrossity’ for us here in, …Gosh-um? City!

We….we must……get rid of the Joker.

    And his boss: Hmitch….born…..fort.”

He’s coming back next year, so don’t get your hopes up. Business says his contract expires in 2014. He’ll be here ’til then. UK doesn’t care what the fans think.

For all you nimrods having a fit about the “resign” issue…if Joker and Mitch are really as tight as has been reported, Joker could easily go to Mitch and tell him “it’s time, I’m done”. Basically, give Mitch the green light to let him go, but still keep his pay. This is the real world…not some corporate movie…people can talk and work out an agreement.

If joker wanted uk to be successful he would relize that he is not head coach material and would resign. I believe he cares more about the pay out than the future of this program.

If young people can’t play this year, what makes you think they can play any better next year? Can a 2* player change overnight into a 5* player? If you can’t play, you can’t play, it’s simple!

Wasn’t really a fan of naming a head coach before the other coach was done. Poor choice. Plenty of money at UK, go for a national coach with a prooven track record. We had it going with Brooks, now we are rock-bottom of the barrel again. Who out there can get us back to respectable?
