John Wall Being John Wall

Prior to suiting up for the Cats as a freshman, John Wall sent notice to the world that he was on his way with a dunk on Jerry Stackhouse at the NC Pro Am event in North Carolina. Last night, in a battle with former NC State star Julius Hodge, he wowed the crowd at the event again. He makes your jaw drop at about the 1:27 mark.

Street ball and thuggery, complete with Wall throwing up gang signs at the 45 sec mark.

Maybe someday Wall will be able to keep up with Julius Hodge…maybe.

And who are you again, Mister… Hodge, is it?

Let’s see here… ah, yes, here we are: You were last seen playing in China, in fact just one game in the entire 2010-2011 season, for the team Guangzhou Free Man. How exciting for you!

Perhaps someday you can make your way back into the NBA. Until then, please do continue to show off your stat line from pickup games in your home gym.

I love john wall, but what did he do at the 1:27 mark? He put the ball behind his back and the defender kind of went the other way but not to any extreme, then wall goes to put the ball up and gets stripped and the ball luckily finds his team-mate. Nothing too special i can see unless i missed something?

#1 What gang sign? Wall broke that guy’s ankles many time and was not going hard.

This, uh, was a video designed to make John Wall look bad against Julius Hodge. I’m not sure it fits with the article description.

This video was pro Julius Hodge…It forgot to mention that Wall hit free throws to win the game…Who cares if Hodge scored more points than Wall…Bottom line is that Wall’s team won the game!

#10 He wasn’t stripped of the ball, after the behind the back move he passed it backwards between his legs for the assist. And speaking of which, I like how they only showed their total points. I’d imagine most of Wall’s work was done dishing out 10 or 15 assists.

I’d like to see the other stats besides points as well. Seems to me Hodge picked up a lot of garbage buckets under the basket. How many dimes did Wall drop? Won’t see that on “Packinsider”.

#1 Since you’re in a gang you know what it means to be a thug and throw up gang signs right?

Anyway, the video definitely is pro Hodge

Why post this? Hodge (a non NBA player) got the best of this matchup. Thanks for pointing it out KSR. What’s next, showing the Sosa shot to beat us a few years ago?

Yes, please replace this obvious NC State produced video (highlighting Hodge’s 20 points on garbage dunks) with the video posted by #3 above. Wall absolutely abused Hodge and like #15 said, probably had like 15 assists (which this video conveniently left out). And to #10, please get some glasses. Wall clearly dropped a sick between his legs pass after going behind his back.

This video was pointless. Or rather the description is misleading and pointless. It makes reference to the Jerry Stackhouse posterization and makes you believe this video will contain something similar. It’s really nothing. What happens at 1:27??? Sure it might be amazing for Dusty Mills to do that. But John Wall? That’s routine for him. Consider my jaw to be “undropped.”

I agree with #20 and #21. Hodge picked up a lot of garbage dunks in a game without any real defense being played on him. Wall took him to school a few times but that’s nothing unusual. If Hodge had an outside shot maybe I would be impressed.

I would love to hear the perspective of the guy in the Kentucky shirt that filmed this video. From what I have heard, this video is quite misleading. Props to Hodge for stepping up and trying to market himself. But JW did not really guard him and in fact broke Hodges ankles several times. Wall made Hodge looked quite silly most possessions. John Wall – “This is my city!”

This video was posted by a reader yesterday…It was a waste of time then and a waste of time now. Of all the videos out there why this? I don’t get it…Not good

I was at the event and it could be easily summed up as “The John Wall Show”. John Wall absolutely abused hodge the entire night. Wall usually finished plays with assists so the stat line at the end of this video is a little misleading. If you asked me how many points hodge had that night I would have said maybe 8-10 because most of his points came from him just standing under the basket and getting garbage putbacks which no one cares about in this kind of game. Hodge should be embarrassed by this video because it makes it seem like he actually competed against Wall which he clearly could not. On a side note, two of the plumlees were on the other team,Mason and Marshall, and they looked as goofy as ever. My favorite moments of the game besides watching Wall do work was when the plumlees tried to show boat and ended up getting laughed/booed as they turned it over every time.

#10, you can see the play much better on the link that was posted by #3. Clearly Wall did not get stripped, but bounced the ball between his legs to his teammate.

I agree with some others on here. The video that was originally posted does not make Wall look very good at all. The one on the link posted by #3 makes him look much better.
