Amongst the players UK will miss this year on the gridiron, one that is often overlooked is the Terminator John Conner, whose UK career ended with a draft selection by the New York Jets. Conner is that rare breed in modern football, the punishing Fullback who can take down whatever is in front of him. And coaches recognize that talent…for instance, Rex Ryan, his new coach with the New York Jets had this to say about him:
“Our young fullback we drafted from Kentucky,” Ryan said in comments distributed by the team, “I think we all see why he has a short neck. I mean, he was pounding people. He took the breath out of three guys today, three linebackers, so that was good to see. I’m always happy when we’re right on a draft pick and you can see this early that this kid is the thumper that we think he is. Just beware if you’re out there playing linebacker, here comes the isolation. He really was impressive.”
