Good stuff on Jody’s blog today….here are a couple of highlights:
— Hoop Scoop editor and publisher Clark Francis handed out a listing of the rankings for the camp after day one and had Iowa wing Harrison Barnes (photo) ranked No. 1. Francis said he was the most consistent and best player in both sessions on Sunday.
— The 6-5 Barnes rattled off a list of offers that included Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa State, Iowa, Maryland, TCU, Kansas, Tennessee and DePaul. He averaged 17 points a game as a sophomore at Ames Senior High School and is becoming one of the hottest names in recruiting circles. Hoop Scoop had him ranked No. 17 in the ’10 class before the summer and he’ll now crack the top 10 and could go higher.
— North Carolina guard John Wall, the No. 1 recruit in the ’09 class by Rivals.com, mentioned Oklahoma State, Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis and N.C. State when I chatted him up about his college recruitment.
—I talked to Wall after I spoke with Oklahoma big man Daniel Orton, another top UK target from the ’09 class. As Wall was getting up from the table, Orton came over and said “did you tell them we’re going to Kentucky?” Both players smiled and Orton said, “let’s just do a press conference here.” He laughed and Wall didn’t say a word.
