Jim Boeheim on Rick Pitino: “He’s full of shit.”

Jim Beoheim didn’t hold back when talking about Rick Pitino this morning at Big East media day. When asked about Pitino saying Temple and Memphis are adequate replacements for Syracuse in the conference, the Orange head coach said, “Rick’s full of shit if that’s what he really said.”

Boeheim added, “The only thing I’ll say about what Rick said all summer is that if Louisville could have left they would have left. Everybody knows it and I’m really tired of him saying what Syracuse should be or should have done because they would have left in a heartbeat. Everybody knows it.”

Rick Pitino? A liar?

But he has such honorable morals!

Pitino is a yankee and very much likes the New York area and the press he gets in the heart of yankee land. I don’t think he would leave the Big East if he could possible avoid it. Louisville has never fit into the Big East and is only in that conference because Pitino enjoys going home a couple of times a year and because he still clings to the notion that the Big East conference plays the best basketball.

    9. Really? You should go fact check BE vs. SEC basketball since UL has been in the BE. Not only have we had more wins vs SEC teams, but consistantly have more top 25 teams at the end of the season than the SEC, who mostly have only had 2 top 25 teams.

Rick has always had a problem “advising” other programs how they should handle their business (“Losing Tubby Smith will set UK back 10 years.” “UK should hire John Pelphrey or Travis Ford immediately.”) I’m glad to see somebody finally call him out for it.

    15. Spot on. UofL has nothing in common with the Big East. They belong in a Southern oriented conference like the Big XII. When it eventually happens, Rick will leave, and UofL can go out and get Bruce Pearl. It would be fun watching Cal and Bruce spar again.

Just saying… there wouldn’t be 8 national championships without the guy. so… unless you all want to forfeit one of our trophies… STOP. FOCUSING. ON. HIM. and find another way to relieve stress. The post was interesting and comical and it’s usually fun to read the comments but damn some of you all just sound stupid with your comments about him getting off. It’s no different that if Calipari leaves to move on with life (for instance, not that I ever see this happening, but if he wanted to be a commentator, by choice- since he has the personality for it) and ends up coming back to coach at Tennessee, or Indiana, or Ohio State, Duke, and so on, you all are just going to hate him too. Do you all not see that this is a profession? Pitino was Calipari years ago, final four and a national championship, now everyone hates him because he left and now coaches Louisville. Boohoo. The same thing could happen with Cal and another rival. It’s no different than a percentage of you all looking forward to the idea of getting Bobby Petrino for football.

Que the crazies with the numbers and parenthesis to pick this comment apart. Toodles. Go.

How can we still have so many Pitino detractors out there. He came here, to Kentucky, and brought our program back to prominence. Had some great years then pursued his childhood dream to Coach the Celtics. Has admitted many times that was his biggest mistake as a Coach. Now I disagree with that, it was when he didn’t put a man on the ball vs Duke. But leaving for the Celtics, why not? Glad he came back to Ky to Coach Louisville, says alot about how he loved the State. Besides we still own Louisville.

Would it be out of line to ask that KSR discreetly self-censor that kind of language? You can easily do a “sh–” or something similar. I mean, a lot of kids read this site these days. It’s the single most mainstream UK site around. Time to act like it with some professional practices.

Regardless of what Pitino did or didn’t do at UK he is not the spokesperson for Syrcacuse and he should have kept his mouth shut. I’m not a Boheim fan but he spoke the truth. The media is too eager to provide pitino with a platform to expound on whatever he wants as if he’s an expert…and I can’t believe you all are talking about this in the same week Gary Collins died.
