Jim Boeheim also enjoys Pitino zingers

I asked Jim Boeheim why Rick Pitino wasn’t at ACC meetings. “He’s still waiting for his horse to finish in the Derby”

Over the past 10 years, I’ve realized several unchanging truths. One of those is that Rick Pitino one-liner jokes never get old. Jim Boeheim agrees, as evidenced by his above quote from today’s ACC meetings. For reference, Pitino’s horse Goldencents finishes 17th out of 19 horses in the Kentucky Derby. According to trainer Doug O’Neill, “He [the horse] just didn’t fire.” While that is unfortunate, it is not as bad as firing on one’s own pants leg.

YES!!!
I can’t stand Boeheim WAY more than I can’t stand Pitino. Dude’s a class-A d!ck
Now that’s funny
trainer could never figure why the damn horse could only run for 15 seconds at a time.
Burn. But that conference now has K, Williams, Pitino, and Boeheim. That’s a lot of wins and titles.
By the way, a poster at RR/TCP posted an interesting fact from the draft combine or whatever. Archie’s 6’4 with a 6’10 wingspan. Zeller is 7′ with a 6’8 wingspan. Seriously, how can he have such short arms? I’m 5’10 with a 6′ wingspan.
2) I used to root for Cuse, but then Boeheim trashed us when Tubby left, and I’ve since seen him to be a whiny tool more often than not.
If the horse was as fast as Pitino he would win the triple crown in record time.
That is a very good one!
I’m not a great fan of Cal’s ‘we got it first’ comment today in regards to a Nat’l Championship though.
It intimates that UK and Louisville are on the same level but we ‘got the championship first’.
Fact is…we are not on the same level when it comes to college basketball prestige. Not even close. You only have to look at one category and go no further. UK 8…L-ville 3. No comparison and no need to elevate the Cards beyond where they are in reality.
Very good point #7, I agree!!
6, Thats is funny as heck. #7 Well said.
Are #7 and #8 the same person? They have to be.
#10. Nope.
No #10,not the same person.
And I’m a third person, not related to either of the first two.
I wouldn’t even consider putting Boeheim in the same category as K, Roy, or Slick Rick. Sure he has 900 whatever wins but he’s only been to Four Final Fours in his 40 yets coaching at Syracuse. That’s not even close to the postseason success the other three have had. Boeheim is the most overrated coach in NCAA history.
my favorite Zingers were the red and white coconut covered with whipped cream centers
i am on the grassy knoll though
Maybe because UL not in the ACC yet. The hypocrisy of UL is delusions of grandeur.
Last sentence, ugh.
ANYBODY that dislikes Pitino is A-OK with me.
Q: Why wasn’t Pitino with his team at the Pegasus Parade?
A: Pitino doesn’t do anything that doesn’t benefit Pitino
So there’s 6 of the 8 titles Otis. Thank you for clarifying.
Troll Otis….what UofL fans don’t understand is that you don’t get to decide the cutoff or start of college basketball. The first championship was in 1939. You can make any excuse you want, but it is 8-3. Bring up recent stats I still don’t care because Cal is 4-1 against UofL. Not to mention that Cal re-energized Pitino to get out of the mediocrity he had been perpetuating. But those are some big words so you might wanna be careful.
Otis…the town drunk of Mayberry!

Otis at his best. He really is knowledgable in all things.
I disagree #23. I had way more to do with UL’s success than Rick being reenergized. Rick wasn’t getting any recruits til I got there. So I’m just going to say I am tied with Rick for NC’s.
14) You don’t have to consider him among the greats, but you don’t get that many wins being overrated and a slouch.
why would he be at an ACC meeting they are not in the ACC
What I got out of all this? 2 more reasons to despise the ACC!
They belong with Roy and K.
Oh, did you know Pitino owns 5K of a horse that came in next-to-last? I bet he lost more than 5K Derby Day!
15 seconds, stop, 15 seconds, stop,………..
Yummy, I remember when those 3 packs of Zingers were 25 cents. Good times.
I’d trust what Boeheim has to say about horse racing.
I’ve heard he really knows how to pick ’em.
Ha!!
