Jerry Palm’s Bracket Route

Screen Shot 2013-03-09 at 5.35.48 PM

While plenty of talking heads are already on the move tweeting and updating their mock matchups for the tournament, there’s one guy whose bracket won’t change that much. Jerry Palm at CBS has UK in the tournament as a #12 seed playing in Dayton, the same as he had yesterday.

Palm’s prediction of this slot yesterday was quite a bold forecast after the Georgia debacle, but today’s amazing win has brought strong hope back to all of us. And if you want to talk even more hope, click on Jerry’s bracket and look at the Wildcat’s potential route to the Final Four via the West Region if this all plays out as he suspects…

1. La Salle (Play-In)

2. Pittsburgh (First Round)

3. Kansas State or Stephen F. Austin (Second Round)

4. Gonzaga, Long Beach, Minnesota, or Creighton (Sweet Sixteen)

5. ????? (Elite Eight)

If you ask me, I wouldn’t be terrified of a single one of those teams. But I also wasn’t terrified of UGA. And at the same time, this is the year that (1) no team can be incredibly feared and (2) no team can be overlooked.

Having to play an extra game surely isn’t the best position to be in, but I am just happy that it looks like UK will actually be a tournament team now.

We’d kick the crap outta LaSalle. I know that in my bones.

The West Regional is this year and traditionally the weakest regional. If we could get this gift, our season should last a little longer as long as we don’t overlook someone or the other team gets hot. We can only hope for this draw.

Well, I hate to break the news to everyone that wants this draw (me included) but…

…if you look to the left, he’s already kind of wrong about Mercer being a 16 seed. Just sayin’

if we get bounced in the 1st game of SEC tourney, we might still be left out – imo, we need to win at least one and possibly two games next weekend to ensure we get in. I also think if we win two, we will NOT be playing in a play-in game.

We finished 2nd in the SEC….we are not a “play-in” team!

If everything matched up the way listed above, we couldn’t have a single complaint in the world.

Gonzaga would destroy this Kentucky team: they have too much skill inside.

IF the NCAA allows us in, we can forget about a favorable path to the Final Four. They will make it as hard as they can on us. Mark it down.

I think its theatre if the tourney gives UK a play in game and they are sure to do it to drive ratings. So one way to look at it is the raw deal perspective. Another way to look at it is that every game our team gets to play, they get better. All this team has ever needed was time and it could provide another chance for improvement and cohesiveness, and that chip on their shoulder play that Calipari is a genius and bringing out of his guys. Could provide that chance to get through tourney nerves before the true first weekend of play with 2 games. Just saying…….

Why is Mizzou not “on the bubble”? They’re projected as an 8 seed? Why? They are essentially two non-conference wins against VCU & Illinois away from having the exact résumé as UK. Right now that win against Illinois looks about as good as UKs win against Maryland. All yr long however, everyone kept saying how safe they were- thus they were. Since Mid-December, everyone kept speculating that UK was on the edge- thus they were. I’m not saying UK shouldn’t have been under such scrutiny, but after the regular season has concluded, can we honestly say the UK deserves a 12 seed and Mizzou an 8??

13} I have said same thing last couple days. Now we beat UF, better than any win Mizzou has, they lose again and are a projected 9 seed. I DON’T GET IT. They were blown out by UL and UF and only good wins are VCU and Ill. Losses to LSU, Tex AM, UK, Ole Miss and Tenn. They finish 6th in conf to our 2nd and we beat them. Here is their schedule…maybe someone can explain it to us. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/teams/schedule/MIZZOU/

No way that UK is one of he eight weakest teams in the tourney! Some of the conference champions should never be in the tourney, if they we not automatic. If UK is in the Tuesday night play in game, then there should be an investigation into the selection committee and the NCAA. Half right at least!
