Jason King Ranks Top Non-Conference Games

jones-unc

Yesterday, Yahoo! Sports’ Jason King ranked next season’s top 15 non-conference games, and shocker: Kentucky is part of quite a few of them.

1. North Carolina at Kentucky, Dec. 3 — The nation’s top two teams clash at Rupp Arena. Both programs are loaded with future NBA talent, but the Tar Heels have one thing the Wildcats don’t: Experience.
2. Duke at Ohio State, Nov. 29
3. Ohio State at Kansas, Dec. 10
4. Louisville at Kentucky, Dec. 31 — The Cardinals will be amped up to play their in-state rival on the road — but it won’t matter. Kentucky is simply too talented.
5. North Carolina vs. Michigan State in San Diego, Nov. 11
6. Kansas vs. Kentucky at Madison Square Garden, Nov. 15 — Kentucky will be the better team in March by far, but if Thomas Robinson stays out of foul trouble, the Jayhawks may be able to keep this one close.
7. Florida at Ohio State, Nov. 15
8. Vanderbilt at Louisville, Dec. 2
9. Duke vs. Michigan State, at Madison Square Garden, Nov. 15
10. Florida at Syracuse, Dec. 2
11. Marquette at Wisconsin, Dec. 3
12. Wisconsin at North Carolina, Nov. 30
13. Memphis at Louisville, Dec. 17
14. Cincinnati at Xavier, Dec. 10
15. Texas A&M at Florida, Dec. 17

Is it November yet?

How…..is the OSU/KU game listed at #3 ahead of UK/UL and UK/Kansas (at Madison Square Garden)??

    Not logical

UK has 3 players returning that either started or played large minutes on a final four team from last year… and we have no experience? thats weird.

Since this matchup is worthy of a final four matchup, who has final four experience and who doenst?

  11. UK TALENT>UNC EXP.

UK’s talent is far better than UNC’s experience. RUPP will be LOUD!!!! That day. “CAN’T WAIT” – Bart Scott.

Furthermore, UK has MORE experience than UNC. Hell, even Zeller missed a year due to injury– an NIT year at that. We basically have 3 players returning from the Final Four team that eliminated UNC last year (Lamb, Jones, Miller). Laughable assessment at best…..

How much will tickets be this year? I would venture to say that there will be alot of people spendind ALOT of money. Plus you know there will be more NBA Scouts there than anywhere else we win by 5.

Sooooo, let me get this straight! UK has Darius Miller (Sr.), Terrence Jones (So.) and Doron Lamb (So.), who were integral parts of a Final-4 team last season, but, they do not have experience? I get that we are going to be young, but to say we are not going to have experience is ridiculous. Especially when it is extremely talented experience. Deandre and Josh were great, and they brought experience to a young UK team, but this years team is going DEEPER (thank god) and much more talented then last years squad. Heck, maybe Eloy Vargas pulls a Josh Harrelson! That would add some experience to the squad.

I think the point he was making is that UNC has EVERYONE back. Yes, we have Jones, Miller, and Lamb but the who won us the game in the NCAA tourney? Knight and Harrellson, both of whom are gone. They have their entire team back, and I don’t know if you all remember but they were gelling at the end of the year. They will be extremely talented, but so will we. This will be one of those games you tell your grandkids about one day.

Unfortunately, it is not November. Which means we still have a dismal football season to endure before we get to watch the team most Kentucky fans actually care about.

    1. he has OSU/KU above UK/KU
    2. he has OSU/UF on the list but neither UK/UF game..
    3. this guy said we were along with UNC the best two teams
    4. this guy contradicted himself throught this entire list.
    5. he is obviously a OSU fan
    6. he is obviously an idiot..

For some reason the media thinks that kids have to be juniors and seniors to have experience. Now days sophomores are more experienced playing the game than juniors and seniors used to be. We’re in great shape this year. We’ve got the better coach and besides Harrison Barnes we’ve got more talented players at every position. Both teams have solid depth. I like MKG better than anybody they could bring off the bench.

Besides what is up with ranking non conference games. Bottom line the game is gonna be a good one. Thats all that really needs to be said. Its in our gym and like I said we’ve basically got UNC beat at nearly every spot but wherever Barnes plays. Not sure Barnes is clutch anyway. He’s tough but he can and will be stopped. We’ve got two guys Miller and Gilchrist that can match his size and athleticism. Kentucky wins by 4.
