James Young reportedly down to UK and Syracuse

I thought it was gonna be between UK and MSU. Well, hopefully its. Or too complicated of a decision. SU plays a boring style and is continuously overrated.

I love this guy’s game. He is not really flashy although he can make plenty of flashy moves. But what I like about him best is that he has a smooth looking jump-shot and he just knows how to get the ball in the basket. This would be a HUGE first pick up for what will be maybe the best recruiting class EVER. Yes, of ALL TIME.

Let’s see: UK history & tradition, The Craft Center, the new lodge with tempur pedic beds, Cal, chance to play on a great team & win a championship, and then dress nice on NBA draft night verses being stuck in Syracuse, NY with fat girls & snow storms.

reminds me lil bit of doron. not crazy athletic or very tall, but smooth shot & can get to the rim. shooters ca make everyone else better.

This would be a tremendous pick up. We’re looking at a 2-3 year guy here who will play significant minutes all 2-3 years because of his ability to score buckets. Very similar to what Doron did for us the last 2 years. Probaly be 5th or 6th man for two years or so and then go late first round or early second round to the league. Yes please!

Once you get inside the top 10, the skill level really isn’t that drastic. They are all about the same, with 1 exception, Wiggins. That dude’s athleticism is second to none!

    19. Odds are that Lee goes to Cal, but it is very possible. I still say we get the lot of Wiggins, Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, Julius Randle, and Young. Lee wouldn’t come if Randle came, but Lee is most likely deciding before Randle, so we may not have that issue. I don’t think Randle would care whether or not Lee was here because Randle is the obvious starter over Lee. Say we get all 5 or 6.
    PG: Harrison
    SG: Harrison
    SF: Wiggins
    PF: Randle
    C: Lee
    6th Man: Young
A top 10 player coming off the bench is unreal. Hate to break it to you guys that think WCS is a 2, 3, or 4 year player. No, he is NBA bound after this year, I will guarantee you. ALREADY projected 1st Round. You guys don’t know what we have in WCS. Kid is amazing. But to be honest, is it possible we could be getting ourselves a little over our head if we get all 5 or 6? There will be a LOT of chemistry issues of that team with players wanting the ball. Every one of those players will want the ball in their hands on a lot of possessions. Distributing to all of them could be tough. Cal is a god when it comes to chemistry so it would be in his power, but it will be a lot more work than it was this past year. This team may make the 09-10 team look like a starting 5 of Steve Nashs.

#14 You don’t know recruiting! Young will not be around 2 or 3 years, not a player rated in the top 6 or 8!

#17 He may have said that he wants to be one-and-done, but he isn’t athletic enough to garner that level of attention, especially considering how loaded the 2013 class will be. Lamb didn’t want to stay longer than a year either, but we all saw how that turned out. #14 was right. If Young comes to UK, you can bet on him being on the two-year program.

  29. Seoulcat
    5:32 pm September 27, 2012 Permalink

#27 Being a top 10 rivals player doesn’t guarantee one-and-done status. Four of the top 10 from last year’s class are still around. Barnes, Sullinger, and P. Jones all stuck around for two years. Reggie Bullock is still around from that 2010 class.

@29 those 3 stayed cause they wanted and the only 1 it didn’t affect was Barnes the other 2 fell out of the lottery when they were projected to go after their first year. Young wants to be one n done and he probably will

What about goodwin? Is it a gurantee hes gone after 1. If he stay does he sit behind harrison, young and possibly wiggins?

Reminds me of Prince, I would love him to come to UK. Cal would make him into a great player, if he likes to run he better come to UK. The 60 points a game the Cuse scores doesn’t equal the run and gun game.

  33. Seoulcat
    11:23 pm September 27, 2012 Permalink

#30 They wanted to stay because of poor draft stock. Coming out of high school, they all wanted to be one-and-done, like most any other high school star. Reality forced them to return. For Young to go in the first round, he would have to be a better prospect than Lamb in a much more loaded class. I don’t see it happening. He is undersized (not a legitimate 6’6”) and lacks explosiveness (looks like Doron, smells like Doron). I’ll put it this way: if he does go pro after his first year, he won’t come close to sniffing the first round.

@32 Kentucky as well as Syracuse both like to run, and get up and down the floor in a hurry. Last year, Kentucky’s PPG was 77.1 while Syracuse’s PPG was 74.6. James Young does NOT want to be a 6th man assuming Aaron Harrison commits he will be taking his talents elsewhere.

Sorry 33 but they stayed because of the lockout. By them staying helped Knight decision to go. That being said they all can’t go. 2 or 3 of this years team will be back. Everyone seems to be forgetting all about Wiljer. The kid can play he will be a lot better after a summer with cal plus the weight room. Just set back enjoy. Cal will tell the ones who are ready to go and the rest will be back. Damn it’s great to make a BOSS running the program. Seems like ancient history when we couldn’t get a 5- star to vist.

Kid is way overrated. But we will take him. P.S. to everyone we will either get Harrison twins or Randle, not all three. We can dream but Randle was blown away with the Duke in-home. A class of Willis, Harrison’s, Young, Wiggins and Lee is great too…
