Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

James Young, come on down?

James Young is set to decide between Kentucky, Michigan State, Kansas and Syracuse on Thursday, but is he really considering all four schools?

We highly doubt it.

Like, really, really, really doubt it.

We don’t believe it at all.

Not even a little bit.

As Evan Daniels pointed out on Scout.com, Kentucky is really the only school still involved with James Young, the fifth-overall player in the ESPN Top 100. Young visited Kentucky during the last weekend of September and loved everything about the program, its facilities, and UK’s campus. He had originally planned to visit Michigan State not long after Lexington, but that trip was cancelled and a source told Scout that Michigan State has pulled out of his recruitment. Kansas and Syracuse also failed to land visits from Young.

With Kentucky being his longtime favorite and the only school to receive a visit, Young’s ESPNU recruiting special is setting up to be the least suspenseful television program ever. It’ll be like turning on Call of the Wildman and watching the Turleman pick between Harvard, Yale, or rescuing a swamp rabbit with his bare hands in Breathitt County.

Kentucky fans should be more nervous about that first home exhibition game against Northwood.

Come on down.

Skeeter, why would you say that, we all want him to come to UK, but I’m not going to laugh if he decides that he doesn’t want to come to UK. Everyone is looking at the facts, that we are the only one that he visited and he canx visits to other schools, that usually points to a GOOD sign. Hopefully, we will be laughing at your post Thursday afternoon.

@13 I keep asking about Nerlens also but everyone is keeping quiet on the subject. I know he was cleared from an academic standpoint but I have yet to hear anything else about the NCAA investigation in August (I think it was August). Hopefully the reason we haven’t heard anything is that all is fine with Nerlens.

I heard that if Obama get re-elected he will change recruiting so the rich do keep getting richer and everyone gets a ” Fair Shot” at a blue chip.
The plan as I heard is that for every two top 10 kids we get, we must give one to a school with a loosing record and bad facilities.

I’d be thrilled to get Young, but do have a question: What does this mean for Wiggins? Is Wiggins likely to join a class that already has Young and the Harrison twins? Or is a commitment from Young a sign that Wiggins isn’t planning to reclassify? Any thoughts?

  34. Jerry Tipton
    2:09 pm October 10, 2012 Permalink

This does not bode well for Calipari and Co. With 4 schools in consideration, UK only has a 25% chance of landing this recruit. Assuming Cal is only successful 25% of the time, that means the record for the 2013-14 season will be 7 wins, 21 losses. This speaks volumes.

A few things that REALLY stand out to me. #1, his name is James Young. Do we really want young players on this team? You’ve seen that young players can’t win for our football team. #2, his first name is James. We haven’t had many successful Wildcats with the first name of James. #3, in the picture above he’s wearing sunglasses in a dark room. Are those prescription? If so, does he not have contacts? He would look awkward wearing those in a real game.

@33 why would James Young choosing UK make Wiggens not want to reclassify and come to Kentucky when Young is a shooting guard and Wiggens is small forward? even if they did play the position if Cal has shown us anything it’s that no matter what position someone plays Cal will make it work if he wants them.
