James Franklin talks about the Cats

Vanderbilt’s head football coach met with the media in Nashville this morning to discuss his team’s upcoming trip to Lexington. Franklin emphasized how Kentucky’s 1-8 record is the result of a brutal schedule and said the Cats really know how to run the football.

Here are a few of the quotes:

“Kentucky is 1-8 right now, but five losses have come from top 17 ranked teams in the country, which is similar to us. They’ve played very, very good competition. They’ve played 14 true freshmen, which is as many as I’ve ever heard.

“Kentucky really knows how to run the football. They do nice things with schemes and angles. They’ve played three different quarterbacks, and we’re going to have to be prepared for all of them.

This week is a great challenge: early morning game, going on the road. I expect to have many Vanderbilt fans traveling up the highway. What we see happen a lot in this league are teams that travel well. We want to have a bunch of black and gold in the blue stadium.”

Beat Vanderbilt.

There should be plenty of seats available for your fans. I would say anywhere from 20 to 30k empties. Maybe we can get cardboard fans like they do in the movies?

It wouldn’t matter if we played 7 different QB’s, we only have about 8 or 9 plays that we run over and over so it shouldn’t be that difficult preparing for us.

It has gotten to the point that I want teams to beat the ratcrap outta’ us. Score as much as you like. Anything to get Mushmouth outta’ here, and he can take Barney with him. The both of them make me sick to my stomach.

It’s like watchin’ Dumb and Dumber, only they’re in real life. At least in the movie you knew people weren’t this stupid. With Barney and Mushmouth, it IS the reality!

Give them the W and they don’t have to travel to Commonwealth and we don’t have to be embarrased again. Yeah that’s right!! “Get on outta here, Joker”

I want some of what this guy’s on….This is what you say to those teams in little league who never win and look forward only to the end of the year and those participation trophies. Be gentle Vandy, we’re on the short bus!

This is only part of the story. Missing is the fact that he was a guest on Comedy Central and his remarks were part of his comedy routine. From what I am hearing, he got the biggest laugh of the night with these remarks and was offered a full time gig on the spot.

Franklin, Strong and Taggert are comtemporaries of Joker’s who seem to be on the rise. All three of those guys get emotionally involved when their respective teams play.

Joker, if you’ve not noticed, has reverted to writing notes on the sideline. Brooks left us a decent coaching staff that Joker ran off. If Joker survives the season (I think he will), he should be forced to replace Sanders and Minter at the very least.

It’s a shame that VANDERBILT feels sorry for us and has to revert to coach speak when describing our team.

Kentucky does everything well. If it weren’t for a few calls that could have gone either way, they would be competing for the National Championship.
