Kentucky Sports Radio

University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

Jamal Mashburn, Ph.D.

Coach Cal’s been busy tweeting all throughout today about the UK graduation ceremonies, but one face you might not have expected to see this year?  How about Jamal “Monster” Mashburn, who received an honorary doctorate in Humanities today.  Congratulations to a player who helped bring UK through some of its darkest times in the early 90s.  We’re sure that if KSR (or the internet) had been around then, your recruitment would have crashed our servers.

Oh, and when does Mash, Jr. get his scholarship offer?

I’d offer him a scholarship right now for that sharp suit.

24 minutes and no one posted? I will. Congratulations, Dr. Mashburn. I appreciate all you did as a player and all you have done since. There aren’t many out there to compare to you. Beautiful family, I fear you’ll have to screen many young ladies as that young man becomes of age. As a father, I urge you to do your duty. May God bless. GO UK.

Congrats to Mashburn, but anyone else notice that little Mash and Cal are dressed almost identically? Coincidence?

I am surprised that Coach Cal has not got the UK players that have gone to the NBA to follow Mash’s lead and set up scholarships at UK. It would also be a great P.R. move for Cal.

I heard Mash interviewed a while back. He said his son is much further along than he was at the same point.

IMO — Jamal Mashburn is the single most important single player to ever play at UK.

Luckily, Mash can pay for his son and daughter, and a whole team to go to college.

An appropriate award for one of the finest players to ever wear a Wildcat uniform. Not only did Jamal excel in the classroom and on the court, He has excelled in life after a brilliant NBA career and broadcasting stint. One of my all time favorites, thanks Mash for being a Cat.

Mash would be a great mentor mentor for UK players hoping tho play in NBA. What this young poster had incorrect was that Mashburn wasn’t a top recruit nationally (Cal might not have even recruited if it were today). As a matter of fact before his freshmen year Pitino predicted it would be Gimel Martinez who would have the bigger impact.
