Jalen Battle decommits from the Cats

When Mark Stoops took the job back in November, Jalen Battle, a UK commit at the time, said, “It’s probably the best thing that ever happened to Kentucky.”  But Battle also said he wanted to get to know Stoops a little more before he solidified his commitment to the Wildcats.  Today, that commitment is no more.

According to Rivals.com, Jalen Battle has decommitted from Kentucky.  The two-star athlete was the lowest rated commitment and only two-star prospect in Kentucky’s class.  He’s now looking at Buffalo and Navy, among others.

Don’t knock these kids. Coach Stoops already said he would tell some recruits that they would be better off to look at other options(as in UK is not offering you anything mow). I expect some current player to leave as well.

Really? The 2-star player decided to decommit? Yep… Joker couldn’t have competed in the Kentucky high school ranks let alone the SEC. 2-Stars.. HA! Have fun at Troy or Middles Tennessee State.

Do you guys remember a Tennessee player who was a 2-star? I belive his name was Randall Cobb…

Don’t get me wrong I’m glad that Coach Stoops is taking care of business, but no reason to trash the player and say he isn’t a “real” football player.

Jo Jo Kemp from DeLand Florida Will Commit to either Kentucky, Pittsbourgh or West Virginia. Kemp is a Florida class 8A all state running back. Class 8A comprises the large enrollment high schools in Florida. Man, the cats could use this young man. Could possibly open more looks from Florida athletes.

But I like our odds the kid is probably garbage.

@6. You might find it surprising that one of the most productive WR’s in NFL history came out of MTSU and one of the most devastating pass rushers since Lawrence Taylor came out of Troy. Maybe you’ve heard of them, Terrell Owens and Demarcus Ware

Cobb was definitely underrated… rare find at any star level if you ask me. They can’t get it right everytime…
Stars don’t mean a thing to me, look at Morgan Newton… good kid, overhyped like a sum gun, 4*? Stars in IN must be like a 1* in FL. Good luck to Jalen! I hope he proves us all wrong.

Some of you posting on here make UK look far worse then any 2-star player ever has or will. Your why I’ve never listened to call-in shows after games most of my life. Can’t take idiocy. Makes us look bad! Real bad. Jalen Battle, hope you havnt read all this, but the true blue UK fans wish you nothing but the best. God bless. Go UK.

Seriously stop bashing the kid–he was willing to suit up in blue and that makes me respect him. Maybe the clowns on here who are bashing him for doing that initially and then going elsewhere–yeah you boneheads who probably washed out in Pee Wee football should show a little class. Im a UK alum, been a UK fan for over 40 years and that bush league crap directed at this kid needs to go away. Go root for IU or Loserville–we don’t need you. And when Stoops is bringing the pain to the SEC–don’t bandwagon either.

It’s pretty obvious what that Stoops told him it might be in his best interest to look elsewhere. I’m glad that opens a spot for someone Stoops wants, but I also wish Battle the best of luck moving forward.

I am a die hard UK fan and enjoy checking out this website for UK news, but taking a swipe at a young man simply for decommiting is shameful. Does Drew Franklin know the circumstances? Perhaps Coach Stoops told this kid he wouldn’t get a lot of playing time and might want to consider another school. Regardless of the case, taking a swipe at him like this is just pathetic to the point that you would expect it from an IU or U of L fan.

Good luck Jalen. He will never go wrong attending a prestigious school such as the Naval Academy. UK will be fine and he made the decision which he thought was best for him – end of story. You guys who have are making negative comments should at least attempt to get a life and maybe some integrity to go with it along the way. I know it would be a big change but you can do it.

I didn’t see Drew bash or make fun of the kid….just saying he was no longer committed and was looking at buffalo and navy. Good luck to the kid, no hard feelings. I don’t get why people have to come on the Internet to bash an 18 year old kid who is trying to do what’s best for him, guess they lead pretty miserable lives.

Get off the 2 star bs Drew. You even know what that means, or that the clowns at Rivals and other sports sites also have jobs like being furniture salesmen or truck drivers. Don’t ridicule a kid based on stars. Also there is a guy with the Cincinnati Bengals now named John Conner. Look at UK history Drew!
