I spoke tonight with Jai Lucas about his Florida visit and where his recruitment stands at this point. As I spoke to Jai, he had just finished seeing Billy Donovan, who had flown down to Houston to visit him after his visit on campus. About that visit, Jai had this to say:
It was a regular visit like I had at the other schools. I hung with the coaches and the players that were down there. Taurean Green was my host and I got to spend some time with him. Coach Donovan talked to me about about how Nick (Calathes) and I would be the perfect backcourt for him for the future and that we could play along side each other during our time there. He said that people see Walter Hodge as more of a point guard but he sees him as a shooting guard and he wants me to come in and take over the reigns now that Taureen is probably going to the NBA
Lucas said that after the visit, “it is probably right to say that Florida is in my top schools right now. I mean I took a visit, like I did with the other four so I guess I gotta put them in the same position.” He said that nothing has really changed for him at this point however and that he is going to “take the time this weekend in New York to get away from all this and figure out what I am going to do.”
Lucas said that he was familiar with Kentucky’s new assistant coach Glenn Cyprian. “I was glad to hear about that. Coach “Sip” is great people. I knew him from when he was with my brother and he has been texting me since he got hired there.”
Lucas said he plans on talking with his dad on Monday and deciding what the next step is. “We hope to let everybody know more of where we stand on Monday. I really want to go ahead and make a decision before too much longer so I hope to announce by next Friday.” As to the possibilities of playing with Patrick Patterson, “we both know where each other stands right now. I am going to be talking to him a lot this week about it and then we will see what happens. I would love to play with Pat and if that ends up happening, that will be great.”
There you go….could be over soon….
