Several former UK athletes and other local celebrities are at Keene Run golf course this afternoon for the Swing For Soldiers Classic hosted by former UK tight end Jacob Tamme. Tamme and his wife Allison created the golf scramble fundraiser four years ago as a way to show their appreciation to the men and women who fight for our freedom every day. The money earned at the Swings for Soldiers Classic benefits Homes for our Troops, a national nonprofit that benefits wounded veterans by raising money to build them specially adapted homes. The money raised at this year’s event will be used to build a home for SPC Brett Bondurant and his family. In three years Swings for Soldiers has raised over $260,000 for Homes for our Troops.
The event is not open to the public but if you would like to donate you can visit: www.swingsforsoldiers.org.
