University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

It’s so hard to say goodbye…

UKCAT8FAN needs to use this song in a video ASAP

Welp.  There it is, folks.  That’s all she wrote for the five underclassmen.  Tonight, we bid adieu to Jones, Lamb, Teague, MKG, and Davis (along with Darius Miller and Rod Strickland).  What a bittersweet departure.  This year has been an absolute blast, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Okay, that may be a lie.  I really would have been happy with that 600 million dollar lottery prize.  But still, I’d sell my own mother to relive this season.  She nags a lot, so it’s not a big deal, don’t worry.  More importantly, since time travel isn’t quite here, we all should appreciate the glorious experience that was the 2011-2012 Kentucky National Championship Season.  Boyz II Men and Brandon Weems both said it best…

Let’s glean over the highlights of this year:

– #8pril…FINALLY!

– “Hey there NOLA, times two.”

– Anthony Davis, all his records, and #browdown

– MKG’s infectious smile and passion for the game

– Doron Lamb’s sharp-shooting and three goggles

– Teague’s rise from struggling freshman to national championship floor general

– Darius Miller’s career games record and well-deserved banner

– Terrence Jones and his NBA lottery denial for an unselfish trophy

– Dunk after dunk after dunk

– 16-0 SEC record

– Getting the championship we all dreamed about from a team who embraced each other as brothers and family

There’s plenty more.  I could go on forever.  So many great memories from all the guys who will no longer sit on the Rupp Arena sidelines. *tear*  Add your own memories in the comments section, I know I missed a lot.

Until next season, let’s get pumped up for next season.  Archie Goodwin has taken to twitter to boost the positivity for next season:

Glad to see the incoming recruits respond so quickly to the negativity about next years talent.

Beating Louisville for the fourth straight time (first time in series history) at the final four, winning the state title before the national championship.

This team gave us (the fans) everything we could have asked of them. BBN wanted #8 so bad we could taste it. And these guys delivered it in style. I don’t know how anybody could be upset with any of them for following their dreams now.

@7 – I hope he heard you! 😉 The space has been made. Now Bennett just needs to fill it.

Those guys don’t know what the heck they are talking about. In fact, the one said something about Coach Cal should go ahead and get his recruits for the next season (13-14). The goofball doesn’t even know we already are. What a joke!

I mean to say these guys next year are a Sweet 16 team or less (ESPN U broadcasters) is pretty ridiculous considering we are still really talented. And also this is going to be the first time in 6 years Cal is having at least a Sophomore at PG, should be good stuff!

I’ll miss how calm, cool and collected Anthony Davis always was. And then they beat Loserville and for the first time all season, he really seemed fired up with his “This is my stage/state/sh!t” remark after the game. 🙂

Have no fear BBN- they said the same thing when we lost Wall/Bedsoe/Cousins/Patterson/Orton. We have only got better each year. With Cal at the helm we won’t settle for Sweet 16’s.

Can we just stick all six on the Bobcats? Or have a special all-Kentucky team?

Without a doubt, my favorite memories are of Darius’ slams against St John’s and Ole Miss, and seeing him carry the trophy off the bus at Rupp.

9: Thank you! Had forgotten that story–Calipari chastising Miller for poor play: “Is that really who you are?” Miller came back in the game and posterized Ole Miss, turned to Ky. bench and yelled, “That’s who I am!” Man-sized effort! See the dunk here:

Man sure am glad TJ decided not to keep that Washington hat he put on.Alot of people have been hating on him the last 2 years.I can’t help but think with out him No FF last year and no NC this year.I think he sacrifed his numbers more then anyone for this team. I believe he will be a very good NBA player for a long time.
