It’s Official – Now Time To One Up Them

us-aircraft-carrier

What has been in the works for a while has been given final approval as the Navy has okayed the use of USS Carl Vinson for a stage for a basketball game.  North Carolina and Michigan State will play on 11-11-11 on the flat deck of an aircraft carrier – the first NCAA game to do so.  Despite my general disdain for both the Tar Heels and the Spartans, all in all it’s a pretty cool way to play a game.  I’m a little disappointed Kentucky won’t be there, but that doesn’t mean we can’t think up creative ways to one up Roy and Izzo.  So what have you got?

Can we get Kentucky playing in the grand canyon? In the white house?  Against Canadian border security?

After hours at Porcini’s?

Kentucky should play on the flat deck of the USS Arizona. Nothing quite like Hawaii during Autumn.

How about an actual game in Rucker Park in New York city. I’m thinking against UCONN, get a little revenge. It would bring in more recruits than Madison Square Garden I’m betting.

To take it down several notches, I still think it would be badass to have a game in Memorial each season. Or every now and then. Hell, we got hype for an NIT game in there……

It would bring some old school tradition back but it would also lose a good chunk of $$$……which, like it or not, matters a lot.

I’m personally glad it isn’t UK. There won’t be any tickets for the general public so while I guess its got some cool factor, it isn’t a promotion designed for UK fans.

24: hahahahahahahaha I agree though lets do Big Blue Madness at Commonwealth. I mean cmon look at how many fans would finally shut up about It (me included). We had better do It before someone else does. As long as It doesnt rain weather shouldnt be that huge a factor. Do you seriously think that any guys on our teams havent gone outside during the winter or fall and played basketball?

BBM should be at Commonwealth 3 hours before Kickoff of a football game (or however long it takes to breakdown the court). Largest event of the year in KY.

Home stretch at Churchill Downs, that or the Indianapolis Speedway. Maybe, just maybe, we don’t actually need a gimmick game after all.

University of Kentucky achievements from my proposal:

The first basketball game played outside the Earth’s atmosphere.
The first basketball game played outside the Earth’s orbit.
The first basketball game played on another solar system body.
Yes, let’s play a basketball game on an asteroid. The logistics should be interesting. You can either go with artificial gravity or expect some truly wild dunks.

The only sticking point is the budget, but I’m sure the boosters and athletic department combined can afford it.

How about in the middle of Time Square? You could have life size images of past players player circling the court and have the whole town talking about the Kats!! A giant John Wall, replay of Jodie Meeks hanging 54 on the Vols, classic jams from the past, all circling UK while they are stomping another Big Least opponent!!
