Well, it’s not officially official, but it’s pretty close. Jerry Palm of CBS is reporting that it will indeed be LSU and Alabama that play for the national championship on January 9th, meaning the SEC will win its sixth consecutive championship after the first ever BCS title matchup between two teams from the same conference. Let the annual weeping and wailing begin.
The odd man out in this year’s BCS reign of terror this year is Oklahoma State, whose only crime was losing one game in double overtime a day after the tragic plane crash that killed two members of the OSU women’s basketball staff. Even after destroying top-10 Oklahoma last night and beating good teams along the way, Oklahoma State will apparently be passed over in favor of giving Bama a shot to avenge its only loss. Despite OSU arguably getting jobbed, the title still game has the potential to be a classic. Hopefully it’s a classic that actually involves scoring touchdowns.
Most of the bowl matchups have trickled out and the other BCS games will be announced soon, and you can see all of them here.
