It’s All Just “Speculation”

Late word from UK, which sent out a press release to say that all chatter about UK players and their futures at the school is just “speculation” at this time. No decisions have been made as of yet, as each player will likely meet with John Calipari this week to discuss his future.

So there you go…the Kyle Wiltjer transfer rumors you heard are just that and not worth any consideration/worry at this time. Carry on

That’s some great insight. I wouldn’t say it’s not worth any consideration though. They didn’t say no one would be transferring. UK said the players would meet with Coach Cal to discuss their futures. I think that would warrant a lot of speculation.

UCLA also said the report Saturday of their coach being fired was not true. How did that turn out. Kyle seems like a great kid and can be a great shooter but he does not seem to fit here for whatever reason. Next year he would not see much time at all so is probably in his best interest to move on. Hate to see anyone leave BBN for another school but the kid should do what is best for him.

Honestly… I think it is a great fit for Kyle. Gonzaga has no clue what defense is (Hence the early exit). Kyle can become a spot up shooter..(What Gonzaga is known for)… They all like sponge bob, Kyle can grow his hair long, and they like making super hereo videos…It really is a match made in heaven…for him

I think it’s intersting to note that almost all of the players came out immediately fllowing the Robert Morris game to declare that they were planning on coming back. Wiltjer didnt comment.

Really hope Kyle stays. He had a bad year and lost his mojo. I hate to see him go out like this, I would like to see him comeback and show what everyone thought he could do comeing into the season.
On the flip side with Randle comeing in coupled with the possibility of Alex and WCS returning Kyle will have a hard time getting much PT. Kyle can work hard over the summer and get better but he can’t improve his foot speed. I do think the game should be easier next year for him and you can always use a 6’9 player with that skill set.
My guess is where there is smoke there’s fire. To many sources reporting the same thing for it to all be false. I think Kyle is seriously considering leaving. I’m not sure it isn’t the best thing for him. Kyle could go to Ganzaga be closer to home and he seems like the type of player who fits that system.
One more thing. I’ve not seen anything about Few on TV yet but I would think UCLA would make a run at him. if so and if Kyle and Few have a relationship maybe Kyle gets a chance to play for UK and UCLA. He could have played for 2 programs with 20 titles among them!

If he stays he plays 10 minutes a game, and is used in a similar role as last year. This team will want to run a little more so he’ll simply be a 3 point specialist and his post up game will go away. They will be able to hide him a little better on defense though. I’ll be happy with whatever decision he makes. Enjoyed watching him last year, and would like seeing him back in that role, but would understand him leaving.

Wiltjer should stay. He has a great chance of getting another ring and imagine how playing against next years talent in practice will be. It will help him immensely. He needs to hit the weights hard this summer. Then the following year he’s a senior and will be the leader or at least one of our top players. And remain part of the UK family, which is filled with celebrities and NBA players now.

Wiltjer should hit the weights this summer, work on his foot speed and learns some Dirk fade away moves. Red shirt and practice against the best players in the nation, then dominates his last two years.

    20) You seen how quick Cal turned UK around and after BCG we WHERE in a shity situation! UCLA is on par with the Kentucky job. One would have to say Carolina, UCLA, and Kentucky would have to be the best most desired jobs in CBB! I would say maybe Duke but IMO they are more a product of a good coach then a storied program!

Kyle needs to hit the Tire and ladder drills. Randall Cobb needs to come work out with Kyle cause I’ve never seen someone do the ladder drill like Cobb.

Kyle needs to get his foot speed faster or stop being soft! You can’t be slow and soft in the SEC. I don’t know how much he can improve his foot speed that is pretty much god given you got it or you don’t. So be better get stronger and stop letting opponents push him around under the goal. Kyle plays small to be 250.

Kyle isn’t getting any faster. It’s genetics, so there’s very little improvement to be had. All he can do is improve his effort/hustle and try to become a much better rebounder through boxing out techniques. Because his 8 inch vertical can’t be improved much either. But the reality is that he will get very few minutes next year. The same is likely to be true his senior year, assuming Cal continues to land much more athletic 5 star recruits. Kyle will have to decide if he’s ok with being a seldom used player on teams that have a shot at NCAA championships or would he rather transfer to a school where he gets more PT his final two years. Either way, I wish him nothing but the best.

KW should red shirt a la Jeff Shepard. Work on strength and agility, along with improving his interior game. Come back in ’14 stronger and better.

After reading all of the comments didn’t anybody learn from this season that if you don’t have role players and a bench you go no where. If it wasn’t for Miller last yr number 8 wouuldn’t be hanging up. Are we ok just letting players go just cause a five star is comming in and can take his place. What happen to Alex…Goodwin…

    27. People said the EXACT same thing about Harrelson his junior year. How’d that turn out?

If Kyle wants to be here, I want him here. If doesnt, we dont need to know why, just wish him luck and thanks for the last two years.

I know that we are all reading what we think to be true in this (brief) statement, but couldn’t it be that they are also addressing the fact that everyone is assuming that Goodwin, Poythress, and WCS are returning and that Noel is leaving? Basically they are saying that everyone should quit speculating on the roster for next year because it is too soon to say what we will go down….
