Get Your Nipples Ready

It’s going to be a big year of basketball at Rupp Arena and not only because Kentucky’s roster is going tobe loaded.  CBS Sports’ Jeff Goodman, who I like but….oh, nevermind.  This isn’t one of those “I like Jeff Goodman, but…” stories.  Just a regular Goodman piece.  Nice.  Anyway, Goodman ranks the top non-conference games of the 2011-12 season and the Cats top the list with two big-time battles at Rupp Arena.

1) North Carolina at Kentucky, Dec. 3 — Nearly everyone will have these two teams at No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation entering the season. Rematch of last year’s Elite Eight contest.

2) Louisville at Kentucky, Dec. 31 — There’s nothing like a New Year’s Eve tilt between these two hated rivals. The fan bases despise one another — and there’s no shortage of disdain between the coaches, either.

Goodman takes things a step further and gives Kentucky another spot in the top five, putting the game between them and a fading Kansas squad at the fifth slot.  Here was his take on that game:

5) Kansas vs. Kentucky, Nov. 15 — This game is part of the Champions Classic — a three-year round-robin involving these two programs — as well as Michigan State and Duke. It’ll take place at Madison Square Garden this year.

The full list is here.

I wish we woulda been playin KU when they were worth a damn. We are gonna stomp their asses. I say a 15pt + victory. As for Louisville, they are gettin beat down. The UNC game is gonna be crazy. Kinda worries me cuz their team is so experienced and we have a few new parts, but its a home game and Anthony Davis vs John Henson will be interesting. Bet Davis fouls him out due to his pg skills. Cant wait!

The T. Jones and h.barnes matchup will be the one to watch, if they guard each other. Boy the nba scouts will be drooling at Rupp gameday.

Lots of good matchups in that UNC game, but if I am not mistaken, isn’t Harrison Barnes a small forward?? That may match him with Michael Gilchrist. That will be the best matchup of the game. And too bad I don’t have $1,000 of dollars that I can afford for this game because I’d pay any price to get a ticket. It isn’t going to happen, so I’ll have to listen to it on the radio while standing in the Rupp hallway or sidewalk. Just so I can be there!!!!!

Louseyville gets a whipping; not sure who KU has coming back – but no morris’s, no selby. no chambers = UK win. And UNC comes to Rupp this year; Roy be sweatin’ thru them ugly clothes. Does nc have anyone that can make a 3-pt shot?

I expect UNC to have a big lineup this year. Every player in the starting lineup will be at his future NBA position

Bad news first: Height advantage, and Barnes is 6’8″ and will be a hell of a shooting guard at any level.

Good news: We won’t really be outsized. But we will be quicker, better at shooting, and better at ball-handling.

Should be a hell of a game
