University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

It’s a big weekend for UK Hoops

Big Blue Madness isn’t just about the boys, ya know. Matthew Mitchell’s squad also has a lot riding on tomorrow night’s event.

As many as 10 of the nation’s top recruits are expected to visit Kentucky tomorrow night for Big Blue Madness, including Linnae Harper out of Chicago. Harper is the No. 5 player overall and the top-ranked guard in next year’s class. If she commits, she would be the highest ranked recruit UK has ever signed.

Also in attendance will be the two signees, Makayla Epps and Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, and many other top recruits from the 2014 class.

It’s a big weekend for Matthew Mitchell and it’s not just about his dancing.

But we’re looking forward to that, too.

Matthew Mitchell is turning UK Hoops into a contender on a regular basis. It’s fun to watch them get better and better. Go Cats!

I hope the women’s team pulls the #5 recruit, we need another PG to lead the team for many NCAA’s to come.

4 – Give it time. Someday it will make money, sooner rather than later.

6 – At TN they fill Thompson-Boling Arena to the rafters to see their women’s team. We aren’t at that point yet, but just give us time. If we win a National Championship with our women’s team, their popularity will skyrocket. People will be wishing they had started getting season tickets in 2012.

7} no business on this site. It is great to see MM and the lady cats. exciting style of play and coack is getting top quality players to come here. could soon see the guys and gals win a title in same year, that would be basketball domination and, while tough to do, is possible with the way both teams are getting talent.

@9 Linda, we can fill the gym to the rafters until the cows come home but women’s basketball will never be a money maker. The reason men’s basketball and football are revenue giants is due mainly to the lucrative TV deals…I am sorry but there is simply not enough support for networks to pay big bucks for women’s hoops. That is why I still contend women’s basketball will never be a cash cow….but I do love our Ladies Team and I think Matthew Mitchell is an excellent coach and I really appreciate the job he has done at UK.

I thought Epps and Goodin-Rogers were seniors this year (2013 Class). To us opponents, it seems like they have been around 8-10 years already.I’m glad they are soon to be a friend rather than a foe. I don’t want to have to go against them two more years.

UK Hoops will have a great season I’m sure…but anybody that follows womens basketball knows this team and everyone else will be playing for table scraps as long as Baylor has Britney Griner.

Unfortunately, Becca Greenwell, the #6 ranked player in the country out of Owensboro Catholic popped for Duke yesterday. Owensboro, especially among younger people, isn’t that Cat-friendly. Appears UK wasn’t even seriously considered.

If we get Harper, Epps and Goodin-Rogers, we’ll have an outstanding recruiting class to go with some outstanding returning talent. Who knows who else MM is looking at. He’s starting to run into the same type of deals as Coach Cal with so much talent. A few years ago, a miss like Greenwell would have been painful. Now, not so much. She’ll do fine, and we will too.

The reason mens basketball and football makes money is TV revenue but what isn’t ever talked about is the fact that TV puts these games on to a large extent because of gambling. It’s the 700 LB. gorilla in the room.
