After an enthusiastic victory over Miami of Ohio on Saturday, Kentucky fans are buzzing with excitement for this year’s football team. The defense pitched their first shout-out since 1996 and the offense looked like a unit possessed (more Pitino jokes!) as they put up 42 points on the RedHawks. Suddenly, folks are talking about maybe even scooping up nine wins this year after so many people felt UK would hang a sixer this season. But, are we getting ahead of ourselves a bit with our optimism? Maybe not, according to the Rich Brooks. After Tuesday’s morning session, Brooks had this to say, according to Cats Scratches:
“We held back a whole bunch. We’ve got a lot more offense, a lot more defense and a lot more tricks in the kicking game coming up.”
What does this mean? Will Joker bust out more “Wildcat” formation fun with Randall Cobb? Will Steve Brown show less man-to-man defense and little more blitzing? Is Lones Seiber going to pull Pete Stoyanovich out of his helmet and let him kick? I guess we’ll just have to take the wait-and-see approach and let the Great Tomato Coinessuer do his thing. The good news is that the staff is openly confident that their strong outing against Miami wasn’t a fluke. And, for that, your optimism can continue to abound during this bye week.
