Once again with one man’s opinion…For whoever made the decision of “FAN DAY” being on a FRIDAY is really a bad idea…This is a terrible day for the many FANS who come from outside of Lexington because of it being on a work day and many kids will already be back in school..It will require a drive time for a lot of folks from 2+ hrs. depending on where they live…Just makes zero sense for an event named “FAN DAY”…

I believe the fans outside of Lexington should be given a reason why we cannot attend Fan Day. I placed a call to the UK Athletics office and was told by an administrator that it had to do with Eric Korem wanting it on friday. If so, why is that? I heard from someone else who also called UK and was told it was required by the NCAA. Thousands of UK fans come from other than Lexington and if there is a bonified reason, UK Athletics let us know. How about a KSR writer taking ahold of this issue and look into it for us. Maybe also take an on-line poll.

If I had to make a very educated guess, the reason for hosting the Fan Day on Fri. @ 6pm is for crowd control. For someone who has attended many of the Fan Days the lines can get long. Eg. The 2007/2008 season I waited in line all 2 1/2 hrs to get Woodsons autograph and was 8 fans away when they promptly escorted him off the field. So with the support at an all time high…it would be hard to meet stoops and get and autograph so everyone would be pissed. Having it at this date and time does make it harder for out of towners but it’s probably the only way to do it where everybody that goes isn’t pissed off. The die hards will find away to go, even if it means sneaking out of the office a few hrs. early.
