University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

If Kentucky competed in the Olympics, it would take silver in men’s basketball

It’s a topic we discussed on the radio a few weeks ago and now Athlon Sports agrees. If UK competed in the Olympics, it would win the silver medal in men’s basketball competition. Just imagine a starting lineup of Rajon Rondo, John Wall, Tayshaun Prince, Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins, with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Jodie Meeks, Patrick Patterson and others coming off the bench.

Athlon even goes as far to break down the coaching staff:

Managing Director — Pat Riley
Head Coach — John Calipari
Assistant Coach — Dan Issel
Assistant Coach — Travis Ford
Student Assistant — Enes Kanter

(I hope the “student assistant” isn’t a joke.)

What do you think? Could an All Cats Everything Olympic team beat Argentina and Spain???

IF KENTUCKY’S BIG BLUE NATION HAD AN OLYMPIC BASKETBALL TEAM

If they practiced a lot together, they could be really good. It’d be cool to see America field two teams like they do in other sports. Leave the gun, take the cannoli.

I know you UK fans lack basic logic and reasoning skills, but if Kentucky were a country in the Olympics, only Rondo would be playing for the state. That’s why deng plays for Great Britain, Parker for France, etc. See, just because you go somewhere to play for a year, doesn’t mean you represent that place/country. Pretty simple really

The premise was if UK was a country, therefore it would involve all UK alumni. You see, we UK fans sometimes refer to UK with just the term Kentucky. Pretty simple really.

2- Did they say the state was there own olympic team? NO, they said if our ATHLETIC PROGRAM was a country would we win silver. Yes, yes we would!!!

Fun food for thought… We definitely have the size inside to handle the likes of Spain. Tayshaun can still lock up wing players. Rondo and Wall at the point? Yes, please. We could use some better outside shooters. Meeks is good. Are Lamb and Miller ready for that role? Maybe B Knight. I will say this, we would be competing for silver. But teams like Spain, Argentina, and Brazil have 3 or 4 starters that have good NBA and International experience.

First of all yes they could, and secondly who is the moron that thinks deron Williams is a better point guard than rondo!! Rondo would have 20 assists a game in this years Olympics

Brandon Knight and Jodie Meeks would light up the shorter 3 point line

#2- the article starts with the premise that the ‘Big Blue Nation’ would indeed be a sovereign ‘nation’. Not just the state of Kentucky. Clearly, in this hypothetical situation, the country of origin of an individual is not taken into account. You really didnt get that? Really?

And if Cal played by the rules, he would lose 12 to 14 games every year. See Memphis pre Wes.

If Indiana were a country it would be called Hilljakistan. Louisville would be Syria.

    10. Oh I missed you.

How many IU players are currently in the NBA? I got four from Google, but at least UK would be able to have a whole team. Necromancy isn’t allowed in the Olympics, and I’m not sure if getting guys out of retirement would be a good thing.

Remember, the hypothetical situation is Big Blue Nation, which stretches far past Kentucky’s borders.

    12. He’s at Kentucky. He just won a ring. Drake raps about us. Anthony Davis is in the Olympics. Why would he need to cheat.

If you build it, they will come.

    12. He was pretty damn good at UMASS pre Wes. Moron. The Wes delivers players to Cal notion is comical. Hardly any of Cals players sign with the agency Wes works for and just as few sign with Nike. Those 2 facts alone destroy that lame argument.

They would not beat Argentina. Argentina has been playing together too long. Sheer basketball IQ would carry them. The current US teams overwhelm them with sheer athleticism (LeBron) and having Kobe helps as well. That UK team would really have no go to player.

    necromancy

communication with the dead, usually in order to obtain insight into the future or to accomplish some otherwise impossible task. Such activity was current in ancient times among the Assyrians, Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Etruscans; in medieval Europe it came to be associated with black (i.e., harmful, or antisocial) magic and was condemned by the church

I would love it if we did it like we used to do with the NCAA champion in olympic years went to the olympics as the US team. I dislike UK, but no way they take anything less than a silver with the 11-12 team.

I’m not real sure if we could win the Gold or Silver(thats making the final game) some of those teams have such skilled, experienced guys. I would sure would LOVE to see us try with a team like that though. I tell you what boys- we would give it a good run and be right there in the end, there is no doubt in my mind.

YEAH WELL IF PEDOPHILIA WERE AN OLYMPIC SPORT, INDIANA WOULD WIN THE GOLD…IF BUILDING METH LABS WERE AN OLYMPIC SPORT, INDIANA WOULD WIN THE GOLD…IF BEING IRRELEVANT IN EVERY SPORT WERE AN OLYMPIC EVENT, INDIANA WOULD WIN THE GOLD. SEE WE ARE BETTER THAN KENTUCKY.

Please stop talking about UK Basketball and the Olympics everyday. Its very annoying. Some of you people need to adopt an NBA team and stick with that team. All of this “well Im going to be a fan of whatever team pairs up UK players” is lame and doesn’t make you a fan at all.
