Also famous for his Pick 6.
Congrats to random-Nevada guy that Bryan the Intern mentioned earlier today. Any time you can hit a Pick 6 with an 8-1, 13-1, and 49-1 in it, you must be doing something right…or making an absurdly large wager. (Quick math: If you were take all the horses in each of the six races, your bet would cost $354, 816). So, if you had the cash, you came out way ahead. But, I don’t know anyone that ballsy/stupid.
– Props to Recapturetheglory for not being a pansy and going after the Big Brown. Like I said in the pre-Derby post, I liked him in the top five, and he ran a huge race to come in fifth. (I also had Monba in the top five…he finished 20th, over 50 lengths behind the winner…I blame Pletcher).
– Churchill meet leaders so far: Trainers Kenny McPeek and Ian Wilkes (44%); Jockey Jesus Castanon (26%); Owner Maggi Moss is 3-for-3
– Churchill underachievers: Steve Asmussen (2 for 20) and Todd Pletcher (1 for 17)
– Also, tomorrow starts Happy Hour Fridays at Churchill. The ladies pale in comparison to Keeneland, but the beer is way cheaper and the lines are way shorter…if you’re into that sorta thing.
Status: $246 wagered…UP 59.80 (hold your applause)
