South Carolina Tips-Off in Lexington Today at 4 p.m.:

– Our friends at Deadspin are reporting that the Yeti is real and it is a South Carolina fan. That’s right, Kentucky has Jay-Z and South Carolina has Old Man Marley from Home Alone.

– Glenn Logan over at ASeaofBlue.com always does a fantastic job with his pre-game preview posts, and today’s preview is no exception:

South Carolina is a deliberate team that will not want to run versus Kentucky. It isn’t that they can’t — they have more than enough athletes — it just isn’t Darrin Horn’s style.

That means that Kentucky will spend a lot of time in the half-court defense, which should play to their strength. UK has been very good in the half court of late when it comes to stopping the other team. UALR could only manage a paltry 36.1% eFG% against Kentucky, and only 3 of Kentucky’s last six opponents have made it to 40% eFG against UK and none have approached 50%. How USC plans to put points on the board at Rupp Arena is a difficult question to answer.

– Michael Grant from the Courier-Journal says Terrence Jones is ready to start fresh for league play:

Uber-freshmen Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Anthony Davis have done most of the front-court heavy lifting, but UK will likely need Jones to carry a larger share in SEC play.

“I feel like there are three parts to the season and this is the second part,” he said. “You got to prepare for it.”

Jones added: “It’s had its ups and downs with me being hurt and us losing. … (The injury) has slowed me down. I’m just ready for this part of the season.”

CBSSports.com previews the game with tons of information and quotes that you’ve seen two or three times. Amazing! Check it out!

Today in Creepy Creeper News:

– For those of you who always dreamed of becoming a police officer just so you can pull over good looking women and attempt to pick them up, this guy is your Val Kilmer.

– So this is why Drew took that sudden interest in ping pong.

– Very few of you can be Tim Masthay and literally out kick your coverage. But if you win the lottery, maybe you can do so in a figurative sense like these rich guys. Some of these will take your breath away.

Go Cats.

Thought I remembered KSR saying a few weeks ago that all uk games going forward would be on tv. This game says espn3 only. WTF is going on with the Cats games either not being televised or when they are televised it’s in low def with horrible sound quality???????!!!!
Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t remember this being such an issue in the past.
    Any insight???

    Sit Teague on the bench.

    Start:

    Lamb, Miller, Gilchrist, Jones, Davis.

Sub in Beckham for the 1/2, Wiltjer for the 4/5, Vargas for the 5. If Gilchrist needs a rest, move Miller to the 3 and let Lamb and Beckham get comfy as our backcourt.

You do this because your starting lineup is more than a carrot. It sets the tone. Establishes a team game baseline. There is NOTHING more important than getting a good start (besides a good finish). Continuing to start games at a deficit because of Teagues lazy, immature, junior pro, half effort at playing the game the wrong way is a detriment to the TEAM’s goal. The rest of the players don’t deserve to be held down by starting him.

Once Teague quiets his shit lip and does what the coach says he can get minutes. If when he is reinserted, he doesn’t run the dribble drive (which I have yet to see him run once this season), he is to be placed right beside Jarod Polson again. Repeat and stir.

    7) Twany is definitely NOT the answer. Have you seen his play? He comes in and looks like a deer in headlights. And out of all the players he runs his mouth the most when things aren’t going his way. Teague is inconsistent, but still deserves the start. Not once have I seen laziness. Brandon Knight was atrocious as a point guard in the beginning of the season, but because he was a main scorer it was forgiven. Just because Teague is not an offensive scorer we can see the glaring hole that is his immaturity still with the game. And besides, the best way to correct this is playing in game situations.

#14 – Will – Never said Twanny was the answer.

But, benching Miller for starts and giving Teague the keys to the kingdom is NOT the answer (at the present time).

Twanny has SEC experience. Teague keeps making the same mistakes and then mouths off the Cal.

Calipari asked Teague why he doesn’t do what he asks as he was coming off the court 2 games ago and Teague replied, “because I don’t want to.”

That shit doesn’t fly especially when a better player with more experience who values possesions more is sitting on the bench (Miller).

Also, not valuing possessions is a form of lazyness.

7 it’s always fun to second guess a coach. It’s part of being a fan. But you’re second guessing the guy that has more W’s than any coach in the past 5 years. He knows what he is doing. I can definitely agree that it is very unsettling to think much of our success hinges on teagues development this. He’s trying to bring him along. History shows he knows how to help a player reach his potential. Would any other coach in the nation been able to develop Jorts into a key contributor to an nba team? In Cal we trust!!
