Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Tweet No Evil

Wait, I’ve got how many followers?

And the Mississippi State Bulldogs season just keeps getting better.  After MSU’s 75-61 loss to Alabama, senior bulldog Ravern Johnson decided that his voice needed to be heard on twitter.  Starting off with mention of a transfer, Johnson complained about his ball hogging team mates and the ineptitude of the coaching staff for not finding ways for him to get the ball more.

The complaint in full:

“Starting to see why people Transfer you can play the minutes but not getting your talents shown because u watching someone else wit the ball the whole game shooters need to move not watch why other coaches get that do not make sense to me”

Of course, it doesn’t help that it was Re-Tweeted by the model team mate Renardo Sidney.  So yeah.  Not exactly Darius Miller trying to take the blame for a loss that he didn’t solely deserve, huh?  And of course, because of this, Rick Stansbury has banned his players from twitter. A little too late, just as Elgin Bailey’s transfer was a little too late to stop the fight on national television.

Look, we live in a different world than we used to.  Twitter is a wonderful tool that lets fans connect with those they follow in ways they never have before, from athletes to writers to legitimate celebrities.  But with that, these types of things are bound to happen.  Instead of complaining to your buddies on the plane ride home from a game, you text it out to your fans that hang on your every tweet.  Some players handle it well (see the aformentioned Darius Miller,) some do not.  It’s not a huge deal.  What is becoming a huge deal, though, is the unruliness and unpredictability of this MSU team.  From fights to transfers to tweeting, somethings rotten in Starkville this year – and I’m just glad we get to play them at home.

It’s not even a coherent thought. I don’t see how Stansbury can get mad if he doesn’t know what the hell it says??

Twitter will be the downfall of Western Civilization, but it sure is entertaining when people say stupid crap, then go…..”oops”. Never hit send when angry or intoxicated.

I understand why some players elect to transfer to alternate basketball programs. A player may be getting proper playing time, but may be unable to display their full repitoire of talents due to selfish teammates who discount the value of passing. If a player is a shooting specialist, he needs to possess the ball in his hands; not watch his teammates take field goal attempt after field goal attemps while attempting very few shots himself. It seems like other coaches are comprehending that philosophy, whereas my coaches appear to not. That is why, in my eyes, some players elect to transfer to alternate basketball programs.

    1) I must echo your sentiments. It is clearly evident that he has completely mastered English. Time for him to move on to astro physics. Unbelievable.

What is so “wonderful” about something that makes it possible and popular for HS kids and College students to convey to the world where they are and what they are doing, and what they are thinking instintly?
How is it possible to spend almost 4 years on a College campus and be no more familiar with the English language than Mr. Johnson is?

Cal only bans the non stars from twitter. He wouldn’t dare take twitter away from a star player. That would kill his street cred with high school kids.

Yes, this is a semi-covert policy I am privy to, taken from the “Citizens Guide to the Coach Cal Methodlogy.”

MSU is a frigging train wreck! I absolutely despise Sidney. He is everything that is wrong with college basketball and the NCAA.

Teams with the initial MSU is not a good sing for you this year. Michigan State University and Mississippi State University are falling apart before our eyes.

NCAA would rather clear a player who is a thug and bully who embarressed his school on a national television, but keep honest true student-athlete off the court. Great job NCAA, you do some great work.

I like the random capitalization of the T in Transfer.

Rick Stansbury, you piece of trash, I hope you lose every game the rest of this season and get investigated for some heinous NCAA violations.

Oh and wonderful grammar, “Rayvern.” I’d be willing to bet the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Really 21? It was last September when we were trying to get Kanter eligible, Stansbury said,…Kanter will get eligible by the time the 15th of November rolls around, the NCAA will always bow to Kentucky whether it’s justified or not. The NCAA will let Kanter play even though he WAS a pro. This is just another dig because, the NCAA made Sidney sit out a year to be eligible, another great move by the NCAA.
