Louisville AAU team says Hawkins will sign with UK tomorrow
Whoever runs the Twitter account for the Louisville Magic, an AAU squad out of Louisville, sent a tweet today saying Hawkins will sign with Kentucky on Friday. That’s very unlikely, considering the signing period is three weeks away, but an official commitment could be on the horizon.
One of Hawkins’ high school teammates also tweeted the news, saying, “To know one of my brothers is committing to UK on Friday makes me proud teammate.”
It sounds like Hawkins is telling his peers that UK will have a scholarship for him and he’ll gladly accept the offer. He’s scheduled to meet with Calipari tomorrow.

Man I hope so. Hawkins could be the next Darius Miller. He will be proud of the Kentucky jersey like Miller thats for sure. I really hope this true. You wont here this kid excited about playing in the D League!

I have heard Jack Givens make the comment that UK should have a standing offer to the boys and girls high school player of the year every year. His reason was “the best in the state of Kentucky should go to the best basketball program in the nation”! I agree
If true, it means at least 1 of WCS, Poythress, Goodwin, Hood, Harrow, or Wiltjer is definitely gone/off scholarship.

To those of you who keep saying that Hawkins can’t shoot from the outside, here are the numbers. He shot 50% overall this year, including 35% from 3. While he is not a deadeye outside shooter, he is definitely better than you say. Also, anyone who saw him in the Sweet 16 knows that he hit many clutch shots, including some very important 3’s. Add to that the fact that he shot 75% from the free throw line for the year and hit tons of important foul shots during the Sweet 16. Bottom line, the kid can play.

I don’t know about the comparisons with Darius Miller. Miller was the 42nd best player in the 2008 class according to Rivals. Hawkins doesn’t appear to be anywhere close to that level.

57 WILLIS is a much taller athletic wing player that isnt as good of a shooter as kyle but is more athletic and can actually defend. this kid wont get to play ever just cal trying to recruit 4 year players so people will get off his back. Miller could actually play and was good size the only way you can play sg as a 6’0 kid is to play with wall and cousins like bledsoe.
I for one welcome Hawkins to the team. Come on down and get some RINGS guy and help win some championships for the BBN. I like his spunk, determination, and a winning attitude. Show me any of that on this years team.

Unless Billy Clyde is coming back, it is indeed a wasted scholarship with regard to hanging banners . . . if we are picking him up because he is a good kid from Kentucky and that makes us all feel good, then that’s fine.
64… No one expects us to get Gordon, he is going to stay in the west. As for Wiggins, Coach Cal would not be meeting him today if we had no chance. Also, as has been said way too many times already, if Hawkins gets a scholarship, there will still be one available for Wiggins.

#67…I’m no detective, but you don’t find it odd that Coach Cal meets with Wiggins this morning and 2 hours later we see a tweet confirming that Hawkins is coming to UK. That pretty much sums up how the meeting went. Wiggins says thanks but no thanks. After meeting Cal places a call to Hawkins and says we want you/we’ve got a spot available. And yes…Gordon was still a possibility despite whatever world you live in. So again, this WAS a wasted scholarship. I’d rather see UK just give it to a kid like Polson than burn it on a 3-star unproven kid from Richmond. Polson was a local who earned his scholarship…Hawkins should have to do the same. The only way there would be a scholarship available would be if we missed on Wiggins or Gordon and/or someone better like Harrow decided to transfer. Either way it’s a step back not forward…a.k.a a waste.

Cal was just meeting with his future start to make sure everything was ok and let him know what next years roster is going to look like. Hood is going to a walk on position to open up a spot for Hawkins. Willie is coming back along with every body else except Noel. No way did today’s meeting with Wiggins hurt anything. It was 100% a good thing.

I really hope this is true. After watching players phone-it-in all season it will be great to have a player that has true love for the program, will wear the jersey with pride, and give 100% every game.
Why do so many of you people get pissed off at others’ opinions? No one posting on here has a clue what Wiggins will do, what happened at any meetings, or what kind of career Hawkins will have in blue. I for one think the kid will do great & we all Wig out next year. That doesn’t mean I have to call others out that think differently.
