Harrison twins: a lock or a lost hope

Following an in-home visit from John Calipari last Sunday, Andrew and Aaron Harrison seem to be getting closer to a decision. Ben Roberts from the Herald-Leader reports that the Harrison twins will not visit Kentucky again. Their father, Aaron Harrison Sr. said two visits told him “all I need to know.”

This could either be really good news or really bad news for UK. Others still in the running for the dynamic duo in the 2013 class are Maryland and Baylor, with Mark Turgeon and the Terps believed to be applying a full-court press to get these guys.

Harrison Sr. also said the reported visit to Maryland’s Midnight Madness is “not a done deal.” He only called it “a possibility.” Their assumed decision to attend Maryland’s and not Kentucky’s kickoff to the basketball season was believed to be a tipping point in favor of Turgeon.

I could be wrong, but when somebody says they know “all they need to know” about someone else, it’s usually not a good thing. E.g. “Oh Sandusky likes little kids? That’s all I need to know about that dude.”

They are going to Maryland, no doubt about it. Under Armour Deal in their future. Not what people want to hear but thats the reality of bb recruiting these days

On the comment “all i need to know,” is a scary one, 50/50 on good or bad. All i need to know…b/c its obvious UK is the right choice? i can only hope soo

i thought Cal was still going to get an in home visit with them ?

if not, then i’d be more concerned, but really, twice is probably more than enough to see the kraft center, rupp, lockerrooms, lodge, etc.

The doom and gloom will be strong in this thread. But honestly if we had our bank accounts riding on it, all of us would wager UK gets them. In the end its an out of context statement by dad vs the guy who’s pulled in 3 consecutive #1 recruiting classes in a row. I’ll take our chances…

At UK, they get picked 4 and 6 in the draft. At Maryland, neither makes the lottery.

They attended Big Blue Madness last year. Not like they need to see it again. I don’t read anything into the Maryland Madness thing or the “all I need to know”.

Would rather Andrew Wiggins than both of them. But I really, REALLY want them. With them and a sophomore WCS, we’re contenders. Add Randle and Wiggins, and we’re the best team in the past 10 years.

the paranoia runs rampant through our fanbase, (and for good reason… re: Duke, UNC), but maybe when Harrison Sr says ‘two visits told him “all I need to know”, that could mean he saw our gold standard players lodge, gold standard training/practice facility, gold standard arena (okay silver, but it packs 24,000 every night), gold standard Draft results, gold standard TV schedule… not to mention a coach who’s blatantly players first….

thats all I would need to see as a father, too.

They’re limiting their trips from this point, been to our place twice. The dad saying that ONLY means he & his sons got everything out of those visits that they need to know for their own evaluations. What’s wrong with that? They should waste money on a 3rd trip when they’ve got a senior year to complete? Some of you guys need to back off the ledge with these recruiting ‘updates’.

As much as I would like for them to go anywhere but UK There is a distinct possibility that they know all that they need to know about UK. In there shoes I would probably save the official visit to the scool of my chice to go to a basketball game in the spring _ perhaps at the same time as some player I wanted to play with.

It just doesn’t make sense to me that they would make two visits and find something troubling about the program that steers them away.

Oh it makes sense. Maryland is impressing many recruits these days. This is definitely a toss up. I’m a Duke alumn but I’m rooting for the Terps on this one. Best of luck UK.

Ok guys, they are coming to UK. You have to understand, they know all about UK and Calipari. They have taken both an offical trip here (paid by UK) and an unofficial trip here (paid by the Harrisons). To make another trip here would be on the Harrisons, and they know what UK is about. I can see why they don’t necessarily have to come here. It doesn’t mean they don’t want to, but why get scrutinized by the NCAA for who’s paying for the trips. If they like UK, they will announce. Either way, they are good guys and I wish them well. But come to UK….

Don’t worry. Cal doesn’t miss on guards that he wants. This will be an epic recruiting class that will likely be better overall when compared to Michigans fab five class. Trust in Cal. He will
    get who he wants.

They know everything they need to know. They have seen everything and they know what to expect if they come to UK. That means to me that UK has to be the frontrunner. I think they know they want to come to UK and they are just biding their time until Oct 29 when they let the world know.

This class is looking like Cals best at KY by far and thats saying something. I mean from everything weve read were the front runners for James Young, the Harrisons and Wiggins who will be the new number 1 when he reclassifies. Sounds like with Randle its us or Duke, but Im guessing he picks us. Id say we miss on Aaron Gordon if I had to guess, sounding like Cal. Thatd be 5 of the best 7 freshman in the country. You mix those with Wiltjer, Cauley, possibly Harrow and then the rest of the bench…that team could possibly go undefeated. Would be Cals best shot at it anyway.
