Happy Heroes Day! UK Wins!

Happy Heroes Day!

UK won 27-13, but that final result was long in doubt.

The first half was about as ugly a thirty minutes of football as I’ve ever seen. It started with a Matt Roark touchdown drop. Then, after a Danny Trevathan pick, Morgan Newton overthrows a wide open La’Rod King in the end zone followed by a Craig McIntosh missed field goal. The whole ugly affair culminated after a strong defensive three and out, in a series that saw a pass interference flag to move within striking distance only to have Newton take a dumb sack then throw an interception right before halftime.

The second half started pretty much the same with a Raymond Sanders kick off return fumble. However with four minutes left in the third quarter, Central Michigan gift wrapped the game to UK by going for it, and failing, on 4th and inches from their own 34 yard line. Immediately after, Newton hit King for a touchdown and the next drive saw Josh Clemons put his man suit on and run for an 87 yard touchdown to take the lead. Then, in a very un-Joker Phillips like call, UK scored on a Newton keeper after going for it on 4th and goal from the one. That score put UK up two touchdowns, and after a Randall Burden interception, Central Michigan couldn’t recover.

Both the defense and offense started off looking terrible, but they turned it around (defense sooner than offense) and put away a Chippewa team that shouldn’t have led us for that long. We’ll have more soon, but until then…

The UK post game show hosted by Matt Jones, will start in about an hour.  You can stream it online here or turn your radio dial to 840 WHAS or 630 WLAP. And, remember, you can submit all your analysis, concerns and complaints by calling (502) 571-8484.

I feel a little better now, but not much. I don’t know who I would take in the Louisville game.

Joker needs to unleash Newton, let him leave the pocket and create, that is what made him great at Carmel and what will make the rest of the season a success.

Josh Clemons, Josh Harrelson. I say we just recruit players named Josh for all UK athletics from now on.

  10. For the love of all that is pure and just in the world, just catch a football.

Way to keep the football negativity going ksr. Screw all the positives, let’s focus on the poor 1st half! And instead of giving joker and the boys credit for a spirited comeback and a 2nd half domination let’s sum it up by bolding the words ‘central Michigan giftwrapped the game to uk’. Thank god for Cordero cause the rest of you ksr nerds suck when it comes to covering the program. Oh and congrats on the win boys! Go football cats!

Y’all can thank me for the win, my cable went out right after Newton was intercepted, came back on in time to see him stuffed behind the line on UK’s last play of the game. I suck!!!

Listening to Limbaugh while waiting for Matt is nearly as painful as watching that first half.

This may be a down year for the cats but the future looks very bright in Lexington. I was wrong to bash Joker & Newton after a terrible game performance.

I would much rather have Newton than the umpa lumpa playing quarterback at Louisville. He is terrible.

UK will beat Louisville next week. Mark it down.

If you watched the replay Roark actually caught the ball at the one took a step into the end zone and the defensive player stuck his hand in and stripped the ball. If the play was reviewed it would have been overturned.

#22. Sorry but endzone catches are “continuation” plays. He must maintain control throught the entire catch, which he didnt. Sorry, it would not have been overturned, hence why it wasnt reviewed to begin with
