Happy birthday to John Conner

The Terminator

Today let’s take some time to remember the man affectionately known as the Terminator on this, his birthday. After the copious praise heaped on him by Jets coach Rex Ryan during HBO’s Hard Knocks for his work ethic and vicious nature on the field, he was getting a lot of love from NFL types before the season even began. His rattling hits were one of the main topics of conversation in Jets training camp and he was immediately touted as a player to watch out for.

John was one of a few former Wildcats to get a lot of love at the professional level last season. After the buzz he generated in training camp, both Stevie Johnson and Jacob Tamme would go on to have breakout seasons of their own. It’s great to see UK players get that name recognition at the next level. Hopefully, that’s a trend that will only pick up in the next few years.

After going in the fifth round of the draft, the former Wildcats walk-on posted 44 yards and a touchdown on eight carries during a season in which he saw limited minutes while still learning behind Tony Richardson. He also did a lot of stuff like this:

Nary a one of the three guys mentioned above were considered 3* or better coming out of highschool! But thanks to their hardwork and the work of our Coaching staff they are living the dream! Tamme had his offer revoked before Brooks and Joker came! We are coaching up our 2 and 3* recruits and we have a few guys this year who will be playing on sundays! Joker has upgraded the talent level at UK it is a long hard road to get to the talent level of other S.E.C. Schools. As Tamme said we have to step up to their level because the aren’t coming down to ours go Cats!

thank you 3. I love UK basketball and will till I die and the same thing with UK football. It will take TIME to see if Joker will work out. He is doing a pretty good job recruiting wise and the SEC isnt exactly a slack job confrence. We have all waited x amount of years to get back to bowl status so why cant some of you be patient. When our NFL Cats do great, it trickles down to UKs prestige as well. Give it time fellas. We are all Cats here, except the trolls, so we ALL need to show our support for the football team as much as the basketball team. Just look at how many recruits cant believe how awesome this fan base is when they hit the hardwood. If we would do the same for football it will have some affect.
