Halftime Update: Wichita State 26, Louisville 25
If not for the whole “Louisville is losing to Wichita State” thing, I’d call that a pretty brutal half of basketball. Both teams are borderline ice cold from the field (WSU: 9-28, UL: 8-20), and it’s been pretty sloppy from the opening tip. That said, the Cards are indeed losing. From here on out, all the pressure is on Louisville. If they don’t start hitting shots, then Pitino’s vaunted full court press isn’t going to do a whole lot of good. And as WSU coach Gregg Marshall just said in the locker room: “everyone in the building not wearing red” will be pulling for the Shockers.

Why is Rick Pitino the only coach who doesn’t have to do the after halftime media interview?
I want Louisville to win because the media says we should all feel sorry for them. One of their subs got injured and is out for the year.

Shockers cracked big time at the end of this game. You knew UL was going to be destined when they started hitting all those 3’s with their subs and then Behanan hit those ft’s.
That kid Early on WS is a beast
I’m not understanding why the Shockers didn’t send the ball in to Early or the kid with the glasses more. They were dominating and hitting free-throws early on, and that’s what got them out to the big lead.
Really bad play by the Shockers at the end of the game, and amazing play from UL’s white kids.
AND they didn’t foul Dieng. WTF.

Two bad calls actually. The guy gets smacked in the face and they call it dbl foul. Should have been 2 shots and the ball. Then at the end a toss up.

Game was called completely different for the last 6-7 min.
I hate to see a group of kids play their hearts out to only see the officials take it away from them. Typical more and more in big games as it seems the under dog has to play 125 percent better to over come them.

#34 – yeah, you said it. That #23 kid cost them the game. At least two horrible turnovers. At that point, the Wichita St. coach should have said “F it” and put his GOOD point guard back in with 4 fouls.
WS kind of blew it but the refs definitely shoved this one ULs way!
The thing about the Dirty Birds is they play THUG BALL. Have their hands all over guys, constantly bumping and grabbing cause they know the refs won’t call them all. And yes he coached the same way way at UK. I always remember feeling guilty as we knocked guys down while pressing and just headed the other way. Not sure why refs let the game get over physical in the last 10 minutes.

No the refs them selves didnt cost them the game. They did however completely change the flow of the game by calling it different than they did the first 30-35 minutes. I know you cant blame refs completely, but it is reasonable to expect consistency.
Also, Luke Hancock is like the most ANTI-Louisville player I’ve ever seen on their roster, next to Van Treese. Van Treese looks like a lumberjack and Luke Hancock seems like an average kid with a normal (non-line) beard.
Pitino ball – eventually they stop calling fouls, and when they do, we make our run… coincidence? I think not.
