Hairston Will Play, But Will Miss “Some” Games

Hairston

P.J. might be back for Kentucky, after all.  After facing what many thought to be a season-ending third traffic infraction since May, two of which came in cars rented by convicted felons, UNC AD Bubba Cunningham (of course it is) has said that Hairston WILL play, “but not all the games.”

So, Hairston has been stopped/in trouble for:

-Driving without a license

-Marijuana charges

-Handgun and ammunition found outside the car

-Driving in cars rented by third parties that he didn’t pay for himself

-Speeding

-Reckless Driving

…and is more or less okay to play.

Meanwhile, Enes Kanter was banned indefinitely for wanting to repay the $33k he got from his league in Turkey, which came from the amateur circuit there that relies on paying players regardless of their age.  And Hairston might have to just miss “some” games.  That’s fair, right?

Of course the AD at UNC will ok him to play.

Obviously it’s the NCAA that needs to step in and stop keep him from playing, but their reasons for not stepping in is the same reason the UNC AD will allow him to “miss some games.”

You can count on him being eligible for our game.

If UNC does allow PJ to continue his college career that is on their plate of integrity. The sadness here is the dual perspective of a conventional student and a “prized” student athlete. The red flag outside of all the NCAA violations is the drug charges. Applying for student loans I was above the income line for the federal grants and had to pay for college with student loans. I am pretty sure that at the end of the FAFSA it asks if you have ever had a drug conviction. From my understandings traditional students are disqualified from receiving federal grants along with federal backed student loans. I know college is a time for experimenting and trying things, but this is definitely an embarrassment for UNC to have to rely on this character for wins.

The moral of the story is that, to the NCAA, it’s OK to accept gifts and benefits from convicted felons who are likely still perpetrating crimes in order to pay for those benefits, but it’s not OK to be paid by a professional organization that is earning its money legally.

You can get away with murder at UNC because the NCAA looks the other way. The NCAA found the money to go to Turkey to investigate Kaner but they couldn’t make the trip to North Carolina. Hairston will play against UK you can bet your house on it!

No surprise but what a crock of cow $hit! He should be suspended for AT LEAST a semester. Oh well, I’d rather play UNC full strength anyhow. No “Kendall Marshall injury” excuses….

I read in a Carolina newspaper that other cars rented by that same convicted felon, had unpaid parking tickets on the UNC campus. I am sure Ole Roy’s crack investigative unit went great lengths, including checking security cameras, to determine who was driving those cars.

If this happened at UK, it would be on the front page of the NYT…Emmert would write the article himself

If it happened at UL, Eric Crawford and Rick Bozich would take the blame to spare the program and threaten a hunger strike if UL was punished (Bozich’s hunger strike would last til lunch)

Bledsoe can’t read or write and the NCAA cleared him. In other words, STFU.

You guys don’t understand. If Hairston is suspended for the entire season, he won’t be able to give his presentation on basketball court relations for his African Studies class. This is all being done in the name of academic excellence.

17 Moron, Bledsoe actually was investigated (funny how the UL media actually did their job there)…the NCAA is too busy hiding in Cal’s trash cans to do anything about the PJ Hairstons and Teddy Bridgewaters of the world

  20. Bledsoe

My high school teachers changed my grades, that has been proven. But the teachers would not come clean to the NCAA as to why because they did not wan to torpedo their own careers. So, there was nothing the NCAA could do.

Could we please stop talking about this idiot? It is pretty obvious that he’s a thug and will ruin himself in due time. And it is even more obvious that neither UNC nor the NCAA is ever going to take decisive action against the tobacco road golden boys-who cares? $%^&’em. UNC is going nowhere this year, with or without him. Julius Randle is going to posterize him and our depth up front will be too much.

I hope Hairston is back for the UK game. Heck, I hope he comes back a few games before that so UNC’s players can redevelop their team chemistry. Why? Two reasons. #1 It will be a big time test to see how far along this UK team is in the early season and how far they might to need to go before the postseason gets here. #2 So UNC fans have ZERO excuses when UK whips the Tar Heels in their house.

“My high school teachers changed my grades, that has been proven. But the teachers would not come clean”

That’s actually funny in its unintended irony. its proven but the witnesses didn’t prove it. yep, there’s your ul education at work.

Reality and #22 – so a kid in possession of pot, a firearem, ammo, driving a vehicle registered to a convicted felon (twice), has several outstanding parking tickets (more than one for parking handicapped), and driving nearly 100 mph on major interstate is the same as Bledsoe? Bledsoe allegedly had grade issues and likely did have some help from his school, but to compare the two is irresponsible and grasping for straws. What are your thoughts on Ricky covering up adultery and an abortion? Probably a little worse than changing some grades.

It’s been THREE YEARS since Bledsoe was at UK… but I just can’t let it go. I keep bringing it up, ignoring the fact that Bledsoe was cleared by the NCAA, somehow manages to write legible tweets daily, gives intelligible interviews to the media (unlike some UL players, both past and present), and has performed extremely well in the NBA. If my nose weren’t so far up Eric Bledsoe’s ass hole, I might realize how stupid I look coming on here repeatedly and trolling every other thread with, “hurr, Eric Bledoe can’t read.” Unfortunately, I don’t realize how f’n stupid I look, so I hope the rest of you enjoy reading more of my inane comments about Eric Bledsoe.

#31 that is a very serious matter about Basil! Let’s hope Mark Emmert doesn’t find out…..jeez don’t repeat stuff like that, especially on a public site like this. Reality check, UNC just got by with ten years of academic fraud- TEN YEARS.UCONN had to sit out the last Ncaa tourney because of grades isn’t that so funny.I think Bledsoe would score higher on most test than J Peppers except for African American studies.NCAA President targets certain schools coaches like the IRS on taxes, MR. REALITY do you think UK would have gotten a free pass on ten years of academic fraud? We both know the answer actually the football team was punished but The basketball team didn’t have anything done to it.Last reality all teams have cheated like speeding some teams just don’t get a ticket beacause they flirt with or know the officer.

With Emmert running the show at the NCAA this will continue to happen. He’s running it into the ground, if they keep him the NCAA will be a non factor in 5 years, having been pushed out by another controlling body.

I can’t believe they are going to let him play again. Some schools get away with anything. Maybe they can find him a way to have a free private jet next? I hope the CATS roll over these guys by double digits. The NCAA reminds me of the IRS/EPA/NSA and the FDA. Tell them all to plead the 5th. Seems to work everywhere else.
