University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

There’s a lot of honor in beating a ranked team. If you’re a small school with little history, beating a team ranked #21 in the country is cause for rushing the court. If you’re Indiana, though, well….you still rush the court, I guess. And then you celebrate wildly into the night. After all, those wins against Illinois at home aren’t just locks anymore.

My, how the Hoosiers have fallen.

To be fair, though, the 1:00 mark is the first time Tom Crean has acted like a savior since he arrived on campus. Maybe they’re heading in the right direction.

A tradition-rich program that falls on hard time has a reason to celebrate when it believes it’s on the way back.

Yes – it’s a signal to how far the Hoosiers have fallen to see them rush the court over a conference win over a 21-ranked team – but I think IU fans really want a reason to hope and celebrate and they found a reason to do that last night. Overeaction? Possibly – but speaking as a college basketball fan in this area – I’d like to see IU back on national scene again – it makes for a better UK-IU rivalry.

Seriously though, is rushing the court after a big win any more ridiculous that UK fans who get all teary-eyed and tingly at the prospect of a high-school senior announcing he’s got the Cat’s on his wish list?

Fans are often apt to overreact. Whether they wear blue, red or whatever.

believe me, IU will be back. Just like UK fans wouldn’t tolerate a second rate basketball team, neither will the Hoosiers. Just a “little” winning will improve recruiting and then they will be competitive. This is a good thing. Who gets excited about beating a patsy?

    Wow. That was…pathetic.
I do wish for a more honorable IU as well. Wins over Illinois should cause that much madness. I mean, congrats Hoosiers, you’re in the same league as the University of Illinois-Chicago and Penn State who also beat Illinois this season, (and I bet THEY didn’t rush the court. Although…maybe they did.)

Oh how the mighty have fallen… Last night’s reaction was mid-major or bush league at best. I’ve never seen Duke, UNC, Kansas, UCLA, etc EVER rush the court. Tradition rich teams are supposed to act like thy’ve been there before. Enjoy your first win over a ranked opponent in the Crean era guys cause Sunday night it’s back to reality against an angry Michigan St team that will take their frustrastions on the Crean and Crimson. Dwayne Wade’s not walkin through that door to bail your sorry asses out you pathetic LOOSIERS!!

“Rooting for an Indiana team is the most thankless, unrewarding job in all of fandom. The phrase “maybe next year” is as common as “second cousins don’t count” and “get away from my mule” around these parts”…Reading the comments “Inside The Hall” you’d think they won the World Series and the Super Bowl of basketball. Just a reminder for all that want to rejoice at Rick Pitino’s problems, UK could very well have gone through what IU is going through had it not been for Rick Pitino. And for those who question Mitch Barnhardt, at least he had the guts to pull the plug on the Billy G. experiment before Billy took us to these sorts of lows. We’re a very fortunate fan base.

Don’t kid yourself, rushing the court would happen at Rupp if more students were closer to the floor. Just look at football…we seem to rush the field all the time.

19 – I disagree. For one, there are more UK students on the floor in Rupp (lower + erruption) than IU students at Assembly Hall. Plus football is different…..we aren’t, havent and never will be elite in that sport.

As a member of the Erupption Zone, the thought of rushing the floor for a victory over anyone is laughable. WE ARE UK, our student section gets it more than some of you obviously do. that would be a dishonor to the heritage of our basketball program for the students to rush the floor to celebrate a victory. We didn’t rush for 2000 wins last season, why would we rush for just 1 of those.

    10. Why do fans of an opposing school think that making some sort of backhanded lecturing correlation is somehow going to make everyone come together and say: ‘You know what? You’re right… I’m sorry we made fun of your fans rushing the court’.

How is rushing the court anywhere near the same thing as fans getting excited about a top recruit coming to play for your team?? And btw, Indiana fans do THE SAME THING… with much lower ranked recruits!

Kentucky fans had a much better reason to rush the court back in Rick Pitino’s first year at UK. Kentucky was in the middle of probation in 1990, had a 12-10 record (including a 150-95 loss/spanking at Kansas) and were facing a pummeling at home against a Shaquille O’neal, a Stanley Roberts and a Chris Jackson led LSU. UK won 100-95 in one of the best games in RUPP. UK fans had a perfectly legitimate reason to rush the court, but it didn’t happen.

This only shows you how bad things have gotten in Bloomington. Being a devoted hater of IU and everything they stood for the last 36 years, it rather sad to seethem rush the court over a win of Illinois. I absolutly dispised Knight in all he stood for, because of his thinking toward every University was not up to his expectations, for he was so honest in everything he done…choking, man handling, bullying. But now I want IU to be revelent again. I never want them to win against the Cats, but I’d love to see them win the Big Ten year in and out just so that IU woes for the last few years would blow up in Knight’s face, and show that he STILL isn’t as big as the university as “HE” thought he was.

If it was up to me, IU would never win another game. I don’t want them to be ever be good again. Their fans are the most uppity, elitist morons on earth, and watching them root around in the mud for the past three years has been hilarious. This reaction to a win over a subpar Illinois team is comical.

Uk will never and should never rush the court. It would be embarassing. Rushing the court is for underdogs, Uk should never be surprised about beating anyone. Things have gotten bad for IU. They have 5 titles and now they’re rushing the court for beating what would be a 6 seed in the tourny.

  37. sunnycat

IU got themselves in the mess they are in. They hired Mike Davis after firing Knight. After a few years of Davis they decided to go with….KELVIN SAMPSON who was in trouble with the NCAA for recruiting violations at OSU and we all know how the Sampson hiring turned out. And as far as Crean only time will tell and it will take alot of time. Crean has won 20 or more games five times so it will take alot of time.

IU will not “be back” for a long freaking time, and Tom Crean won’t be the one to do it anyway. His record at Marquette was garbage outside of the 2 years DWade was there. He’s a mediocre coach trying to coach at an elite job. Won’t work.

They beat the #21 team in the nation, in one regular season game, and all of a sudden it’s, “Indiana will be back.” That’s a program with 5 NCAA Titles and they’re rushing the court over a regular season win over a team barely in the top 25? Really? Really?

Screw that. Indiana hasn’t “been back” in 15 years and won’t be back until they hire another coach.

Cat fans, don’t waste one bit of effort feeling sorry for IU or wishing them success. And if you do, I can almost guarentee you haven’t spent very much time talking to Hoosier fans. Almost ZERO of their fanbase would feel that way if the roles were reversed.
