Gregg Doyel just said Kentucky will go undefeated this season

High School Basketball: McDonald's All American Games

If you’re listening to Kentucky Sports Radio, you just heard CBS Sports’ Gregg Doyel say that he thinks Kentucky will go 40-0 this season, becoming the first undefeated team since 1976.

Back when John Calipari came to Kentucky, Doyel was the one who predicted it would be a grand slam hire, so I’m taking his word for it.

I need to watch that Julius Randle video again…

I also said Billy Clyde would run circles around Pitino and also said Pitino was done after UK hired Cal. My top 3 prediction for uk last year also went up in flames.

I think 40-0 is a bold prediction regardless – though we had two recent teams that were very, very close to pulling it off (2010 and 2012). I think our hardest test will come at the beginning of the season, vs. michigan state and NC, and then Louisville. If we are able to get through that gauntlet unscathed, I predict that the team will storm through the SEC and get to the NCAA tournament on a high.

If that happens, I think these marquee guys, these “killers” like Julius and the twins, will do whatever they have to do to keep that final loss from happening. They will be the best, they will know they’re the best, and they will leave it all on the floor if for no other reason to keep their pride.

Louisville is going to be more overrated than our UK team was last year coming off their title. Wait and see. UL loses 10 games at the least.

Just look at that picture. Those 6 guys could win a title. Before you even add in WCS & Poythress.

Our toughest games standing in the way are, in order:

    1. Mi St…best team on day one and we play them on day one, basically
    2. @UNC…can match us better from an athletic/length perspective than anyone…also their players are allowed to not go to class and deal drugs and drive boosters’ cars and still be eligible
    3. @UF…Always tough, and if we are undefeated by then they will be extra motivated…it will be their only sellout of the year
    4. Baylor…huge arena, Baylor has NBA talent, including a great big man

Actually, Doyel called a different UK basketball hire a Grand Slam…

April 24, 2007: “Billy Gillispie, Kentucky: Not just a home run, this was a walk-off grand slam.”

He did speak glowingly of the Coach Cal hire, too. ” He coached Memphis to the title game. And that will be small potatoes compared to what Cal will do with the Wildcats,” Gregg Doyel says.

Hopefully, he will be right about the Cats going undefeated this year. But Mrs. Tyler Thompson needs to try to be better with her facts without losing any of her mesmerizing good looks.

#11-There does seem to be a direct correlation between tats and on-court success. We will sure get this info if we can. Would you need to know about visible tats only? If not, we will have to expand our search.

I believe that Coach Cal looks to make sure a recruit has tats before he will even consider him for the program. It is a criterion that has not been widely discussed, but now that #11 has brought it up, I am quite sure it will spread like wildfire.

Who cares if players have tats or not. Focusing on tattoos seems to be a simple minded way of thinking. It seems as though most of the kids Cal has gotten to come to UK have been good kids, tatts or no tatts

if they don’t go undefeated will only be because of a early loss, either to North Carolina or Michigan State. I don’t see either one of them beating us but get past those games, will be hard for them to be beat based on talent alone. So geter done can’t wait to get this show on the road. How’s that go its the best kept secret won’t be keeping this secret for long. BBN ILF#9

9 as with every Pitino UL team, it really depends on how serious refs are about calling the pulling and grabbing they do on defense…the last 2 years it was the great equalizer they needed. But they have a below average schedule so they would have to be a terrible team to lose 10 games.

#15 I can tell you’re not a true Kentucky fan, only people that dislike Kentucky and are trying to get digs in, would say something stupid like, last year’s team in the same sentence as this years team. Get real is there any talent comparison to last year compared to this year, or any depth comparison get real we don’t need any bandwagon jumpers. We started the season with only 3 big man, and ended the season with only two players over 6’6 tall. this year we have 2 starting lineups, with an average size of 6″8. and as far as the tattoo crap goes, wouldn’t give a crap less whether they had their face tattooed. Alex Poythress 2 inches taller this year and most impressive player at the Kevin Durant Camp, Willie cauley-stein 1 year older one year better. Then you have 6 McDonald’s All Americans, 5 of which are in the top 10,yeah there’s a real resemblance to last year’s team. Did I forget we also have the two best players in the state of Kentucky coming. I guess I have vented enough, GO BIG BLUE

#23 don’t you think you should at least wait for the Sun to go down before getting plastered. Louisville won’t even sniff a win against Kentucky this year, they have new rules out against the check fouls / grabbing that Louisville is used to getting by with. Plus those midgets if they do hand check our big boy guards, they’ll just get carried up and threw the basket hahahahaha!!! COME GET YOU SOME BBN

UK is beating UL by double digits this year. UK looks better on paper, in the mirror, and on the court. UK is bigger and more talented. The Twins will dominate the 6’0 Russ Smith. And why is there hype for this 5ft guy from the junior College? There’s a reason he went to “junior college.”

You have to excuse UL fans’ ignorance, their fanbase doubled since this time last year.

No one will ever go undefeated… can people say that. We lost like 4 games in 2 separate seasons by a total of like 20 points. It absolutely can be done…will it who knows….but it can be done.

Im not saying we will do it, but I don’t think many of us are remembering how close 2012 was to an undefeated season…last second shot at IU and looking ahead to the tourney while playing a hot Vandy team (which I think we wouldve won if we were protecting an undefeated season at the time)…easily couldve happened…of course I think the chances are slim (mostly because that MI St game that early is a tough one). If we crush MI St, I will become more of a believer. At UNC and at UF will be very tough games too…even Baylor could be tough because of their athleticism if they shoot better than we do from outside.
