It was a crazy weekend around the Kentucky program and there is a ton to discuss, ponder and complain about this morning. Matt has arrived at the WKJK studios safely from the musty KSR Compound in Buckhead just in time to get the fun going this morning. I’m going to go out on a limb and call this the greatest morning of radio ever.

The committee assumed Florida would win the SEC tournament when they finalized the seeds on Saturday night. Liggins and Lamb writhing in pain on the floor with a 6 man roster made them say there is no way UK wins the tourney. That’s the only explanation for why Florida got a 2 seed. IMO Florida would have earned a 2 seed had they won on Sunday but since UK won they were left in a position where they couldn’t justify switching them. They decided to just roll with it instead of doing the work to make the seeding fair.
Know there has been talk about re-doing the seeding in the SEC tournament. Do you think that they will move the tournament up a day so it ends on Saturday instead of Sunday?

Florida was never even ranked in the top 10 in any poll all year. Instead of talking about bubble teams, I have not heard any national commentator express frustration over Florida’s seed.

I arrived back home @3:30am from the ATL. I must say that it was fun, but if I don’t see another 100 oz Yuengling beer tap I would not be sad. Don’t worry Cat-fans! Florida was going to see a second-round exit despite their seed…they’re easily the most overrated team in the tournament. Just wish the selection committe would have chosen bracket selections Sunday instead of Saturday.
They might as well just put the names in a hat and pull them out and let them play.

this is unbelieveable for UK to dominate Fla twice in 10 days or so and to recieve a 4 seed is crazy ….
but with that being said i think UK has a great chance to make one of the best runs in the last few years with victories over Princeton, Revenge against WVU and then knocking off OHIO STATE WOULD BE Beautiful then hopefully on to beat Puke and Kansas in the final four …. End to a great season with everyone thinking we are weak

Morehead will totally beat loserville. You outrebound loserville, they lose. Besides, pitino may be too preocupied saying “yes, please” every time he hears “morehead”.

We only lost to Florida by 6 at Florida
The Cats gettin a 4 seed isn’t that bad. The thing I don’t understand is how stacked the region with the #1 OVERALL SEED is. Maybe I don’t understand the whole selection process, but I would think that elite team who earned the overall see should be in the simpler region. This tournament just proved it was about the money. My opinion on the Florida seed is just that. I think the committee would have rather had BYU the #2 and Florida #3 in that region. But after checking out the locations of the first 2 rounds, it’s not much different. BYU is in Denver as a 3 seed, while Florida is in Tampa as the 2. More fan travel in closer locations and more money spent. Just my opinion, curious to see others’ opinions on this.

Louisville better be ready. We were in the game when we played Florida and Ohio St. earlier in the year.
At least we didn’t get Louisville’s draw, they may not get out of the first round. I’ll take Princeton over Morehead any day.

Is it good that we have five days to prepare for Ohio State playing them in the sweet 16 as opposed to 2 days of prep if we would have played them in the elite eight? (Trying to make the best out of this horrible draw that we have.)

Florida not only gets an undeserved 2 seed, they also get seeded alongside a paper number 3 in BYU, so they have an absolute cakewalk to the Regional finals playing nobodies.

After calming down and looking at the overall resumes I think the biggest thing you can take from this bracket is that the overall mediocrity of this year made seeding a nightmare. There were definitely tweaks that could have made it a little bit better, but in all honesty look at the 2-4 seeds. I think Notre Dame is the only team really locked in at 2 and Wisconsin proble the only team locked in at 4. You could honestly make the argument that all the rest of them are completely interchangeable.

Who Gives a Damn about Florida, I ain’t worried about what they got seeded. The biggest issue is that we are the 4 seed in the bracket with the overall #1. Secondly now way you seed us as a #4,Certainly not the lowest #4 after seeding Florida as a #2 after we spanked them twice in a week and a half. This idot from Ohio State needs to stick to answering football program allegations, cause it’s obvious he ain’t got a friggin clue about what he’s doing when it comes to the brackets. Matt for you to say “It’s a basketball game.” regarding the emotions after last year’s loss. Tells me you didn’t play much organized sports. It’s only a game if your just watching it. It means so much more when you are living it.
Matt, remember last years tournament? Remember how the best team in the country – the one with the dominating big man/men and great guards – had a night they couldn’t beg the ball in the basket from outside? Remember how that team tightened up and got knocked out by a team they would beat 99 times out of 100?
That 1 game out of 100 happens.
And that’s why we can, and will, beat Ohio State. And they couldn’t beat us 99 out of 100 times, so we’re more likely to pull it off than the Huggie Thugs were.
People dont forget about west virginia… cal has had problems with huggy in the past and i dont want people to thing it will be a cake walk to the sweet 16…. which we all know based on our bracket. it is not.
