Going Streaking

No, not that kind of streaking…

We haven’t seen a lot of wins the past few years on the gridiron here the commonwealth. Historically, Kentucky football has been “that team” that is known for long, grueling, painful losing streaks to teams, and sadly, we still live in that day and age. Here are just a few streaks that the Cats are still in the midst of, and that everyone in Big Blue Nation would probably cut off a limb in order to break.

673 days since the Cats have beaten a BCS team. When was that? November 26, 2011 against the Tennessee Volunteers in the last game of the 2011 season. That’s also the last time that Kentucky has beaten a team in the SEC.

-1,173 days since the Cats have beaten a ranked team. This was on October 16, 2010 when Kentucky upset the 10th ranked South Carolina Gamecocks 31-28. The closest game against a top 25 school since then was last season against Georgia when UK only lost by five.

9,815 days since Kentucky defeated Florida. Yeah…it’s been a while. We know.

995 days since UK last appeared in a bowl game. This was in January of 2011 when Kentucky fell to Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl. We can all agree that bowl doesn’t really exist though.

1,408 days since Kentucky has won a conference game on the road. The Cats took down the Georgia Bulldogs on November 21, 2009 in Athens 34-27. Randall Cobb and Derrick Locke led the way. Wow…doesn’t that feel like forever ago? Joker Phillips went his entire tenure as head coach without winning a SEC road game. UK will have another chance this weekend at South Carolina, you ready Spurrier?

Conclusions from all of this? This program won’t be fixed in a day, or in a season. It’s going to be a slow, methodical process, very similar to the slow, methodical losing streaks UK has going against them right now.

Our streak of days of optimistic fans is going to grind to a halt if something doesn’t change with the QB position.

This site amazes me sometimes. When Stoops was recruiting yahtzee! ksr was saying how Stoops is this great defensive wizard at how much better than Joker this and that . Guess what same freaking results.
And when Stoops freshman do something good ksr points it out. How much better they are than Jokers players. Well Florida played players that are freshman and career backups in key spots. Guess what Uk still has a ways to go. Florida upset lol!

I noticed where are the Barker tweets about how all the recruits are still on board? What about Elam, he was at the game also?

Just like this guy…..our coach has no clothes. A few games into his first season and we can now see he is way over his head.

Was this article necessary? Talk about a good recruiting weapon for our rivals, and fodder for fans of other teams! What was the point?

These types of streaks demonstrate extraordinary failure in management of the football program. Jurich has provided much better leadership and management for Louisville football. If we aren’t willing to reexamine everything about the program, including scrutiny of the AD’s job security, we risk losing the next generation of fans. Even our current diehard football fans will stop attending games if these negative streaks don’t change. I would list losing to WKU twice in a row as another devastating streak for this program. WKU’s football stadium seats less people than Rupp Arena. When we are getting beaten by a program like WKU, it’s time for dramatic change starting at the top.

#17– UL doesn’t play in the SEC.. You might want to take that into account. If UL were plugged into our schedule year in and year out, the results would be nearly identical to ours. ULs program is nothing more than a tiny bit better than ours right now–even with possibly the best player in their history at QB, and what many say is a “great” coach and their best team since ’06. They were barely better than UK this year. Barely. Who knows what would’ve happened if our WRs could’ve caught the ball and we hadn’t turned the ball over in the red zone twice.
Please go to a UL board if you want to praise them or their AD.

@ 18….You have lost your mind to think that U.L. is as you say is a “Tiny bit’ better than us….another Blue Neck in denial…This is why our fan base predicts upsets every week because of idiots like you, you truly think we are just behind them or who ever else we are playing. FURTHEST THING FROM REALITY DUDE….WE AREN’T EVEN CLOSE….WAKE THE F#$K UP!

#18 – WKU doesn’t play in the SEC either, but that didn’t keep a Sunbelt Conference team from putting a beating on us two years in a row. I suppose you think were just a “tiny bit” worse than Western or “barely” third place in the state. For the record, I detest Jurich and despise UL. However, it’s undeniable that Jurich has done more with less at UL. I hate it, but think it needs to be discussed and confronted in an effort to regain our rightful spot as the number one program in the state. Fans that bury their heads in the sand as we get passed by other programs contribute to the risk that we will fall further behind.

    20. Is that the same Johnny Unitas that had a losing record in his Louisville career?
