Matt, I think the reason so many people are so ready to give up on Joker is that many of these same people weren’t crazy about the hire to begin with. Joker’s play calling as the offensive coordinator under Brooks caused a lot of premature gray hairs. Fair or not, he had a strike (or two) against him from day one.

I’ll never understand why people are convinced UK could get any coach they want. It’s always nice to dream, but you have to look at the whole picture. UK has the SEC to pitch as their ‘advantage’ however; we are at so many disadvantages that it hurts us in landing a big coach. The lack of talent in the state Kentucky plays a major role when coaches are looking at a school. UK needs a coach who runs a gimmicky type of system to succeed. There are too many reasons a traditional system won’t work here. But I did hear that Bob Stoops just bought a horse farm in Nicholasville.

JOKER IS NOT A PLAYER’S COACH. I’m tired of all thes ill-informed “old-timers” who are convinced he is easy on the players and that’s the problem. He is waaaaay tougher on them than Papa Brooks was. There are punishments for being one minute late to a meeting, you have to run or do pushups if you drop a pass or miss an assignment in practice. He susupended 5th year senior QB for this his final collegiate game for a minor drinking in public arrest…and he was 21 yrs old. He sent Paul Warford packing. He benched senior Mark Crawford for the Western game and he will remain suspended this week. He benched his best WR Matthews last yr for the first half of a pivotal game. The man is a disciplinarian and is very tough on his players. To say otherwise is vastly off base.

Hey guys, I heard you say tearing an ACL is worse than a bone break like the one Sosa had. I would disagree. ACL tears hurt in the moment that you have them, but after that, relatively painless, after that. What Sosa did is about the most painful injury you can have in basketball.

  68. Jax Teller
    10:55 am September 6, 2011 Permalink

I don’t think people realize how amazing it’s been that Kentucky has been to 5 straight bowls. That is a HUGE accomplishment for us and further proof that a good year is 7-5. I hope we can do better every year, but realistically I know that a 7-5 season is a success for this program. If we make it to 5 more bowls and keep going 6-6 or 7-5 THEN you can raise expectations and your program can take the next step. It’s a long process, but UK fans love to make the jump that we can compete for SEC championships immediately.

    11:02 am September 6, 2011 Permalink

Matt, please acknowledge that if we do not get a new offensive scheme, Joker is not going to succeed. His play calling in the past (i.e. UT games) and his play calling against WKU shows he has to get a new offensive coordinator in and let him call the plays.

WHICH they did and won the game. I’ll bet they won’t take this next game lightly, and will beat them by 20 points or better.
