Getting to Know Your Madness Visitors (Part I)

With so many visitors gracing Lexington with their presence this weekend, we figured it might be nice for all UK fans to brush up on their knowledge of each. Whether you’re a girl looking to latch onto an NBA level athlete early or a guy looking to boost your cool points by showing off your phone’s screensaver of you and one half of John Wall’s head, which clearly proves you are best friends, one thing is for sure: you don’t want to finally get your chance and blow by talking about the weather or what they think about the new parking policy on campus. So brush up now, so you don’t hate yourself later.

Achraf Yacoubou (2011)

You really don’t wanna mess up with his name, so you should pronounce it Ash-craf You-coo-boo. He says that his friends call him Ash for short. Yacoubou was a backup for Tyreke Evans at American Christian in Pennsylvania before switching to Long Island Lutheran in New York, where he played with another Madness visitor, Tobias Harris. Yacoubou remains in contact with both of those players and it’ll definitely help during his visit to have an older friendly face around in Tobias. Mr. Yacoubou told me that he is mostly looking forward to seeing “the atmosphere at UK and how the team is looking.” He will be going into his junior year of high school and is looking to become the team leader now that Tobias Harris has transferred back to Half Hollow Hills.

Quincy Miller (2011)

Quincy Miller may not need an introduction to some of you, based on the fact that he is a consensus top 5 player in his class, but we’ll take a look anyways. He is originally from Illinois but now attends the Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Quincy also plays for the same AAU program that produced UK’s own John Wall, D-One Sports. Standing at 6-7, he’s versatile enough to play either forward position and has the physical makeup of length and pure athleticism that Calipari loves. Although Marquis Teague and Michael Gilchrist have received most of the publicity, Quincy would be just as great a catch, so get to know him now.

I enjoy basketball, Kentucky sports and extremely short walks on the beach, followed by a nap. Sorry ladies, I'm taken.
